Nope not at all … Ipswich was dusty bank holiday day meeting and was awful… no excuses for tonight

Happy with the 2 point loss thought it might be 10

Plaudits to Picko he is the one Sheffield rider who gives it a go at Foxhall great entertainment

Can any Ipswich fans explain Sayfutdinov weird pre match 'ritual' he's just walked on the track, rolled about in dirt and then started scooting about on his arse like he's a dog with worms.

I've seen some warm ups in my time, but thst was the most bizarre!

He usually just goes on the track and rubs some dirt onto his kevlars. Must be a superstition of his , never seen him scoot thou.

Superb meeting that was. Speedway as it should be with two good sides going at it, a close scoreline and some cracking racing. Credit to both sets of riders.

Credit to Ipswich as they are living up to the hype and showing why they're the favourites for the league.

This has to be a moral victory for the witches.  All riders contributing and the tigers heat leaders colours lowered.  If Ipswich stay fit then they are odds on imo.  The aces pose more of a threat over 2 legs, assuming they make some shrewd changes to their line up

The track needed some water on it after heat 8 onwards very dusty indeed. But still, some fantastic racing tonight especially ones involving Jack Holder. Heat 15 was an epic pass on Doyley who shook hands with both Picko and Jack at the end of the race which was all good to see.

two good teams going at it, much rather see a close meeting than a 60-30 drubbing. a couple of falls and a couple of engine failures added to the drama.  Both will comfortably make the play offs, but Ipswich will definitely be the team to beat due to how good they are round foxhall.

Heat 6 was a belter, hopefully a video of that’s posted on either Sheffield speedway or British Speedway.  Ipswich unlucky when on 5-1 until last bend when Thompson binned it as that was the difference between a win and a loss in the end.  Emil and Doyle both looked slow (all race times shockingly slow tonight for all) in majority of their races, Doyle rising like a road block in most of his heats.  Ipswich solid but with room for improvement from a few on their next visit definitely.  As for Sheffield Holder snr is a worry, no real pace again and looks like he’s coming back from injury rather than a helluva 2024 season, Sedgmen very poor again, you’d think they can’t persevere with him too long before making a change,  noticed as well again tonight Flint never ever checks during all 4 laps where his partner is, baulked them in more than one race tonight you’d hope Stead sees that and tries to improve that within his riding

Good meeting all in all with a couple of stand out races

Yea he has. I commented every time to people around me

Well I haven't seen him do it, but I don't go every week and I certainly don't go for televised fixtures

Limited options there because I can't see any of the top 5 being replaced

Should get hold of Jon Howarth to do his motors seems to do a good job on Pickering’s stuff froM when he started doing them mid last season onwards

I am 99% sure that Picko’s engines are Ashtec Rockets and Mr Howarth just does the services on them like he does for many riders so they don’t have to keep sending them to Poland

Lucky win for Sheffield. We appear to now have a third heat-leader issue. CH is now clearly in his dotage and is nothing more than a 6.0-point rider living on his reputation and memories of past glories. To have any hope of becoming champions we need much more from Kerr and Sedgmen, which we are just not getting.

Having said all that, Ippo have a similar problem: Doyle and Sayfudtinov are not the feared pairing they once were, and problems will only increase as age takes its inevitable toll. They've been lucky with the form of Thompson, who had an off-night at Owlerton.

These two teams - allegedly favourites for the PL title - are interesting from a management point of view. Much will depend on the actions taken to plug the gaps as their issues escalate later in the season.

Doyle and Sayfutdinov will be sharp when it matters. No need to win every meeting by 20 points with those two achieving 10 point averages.

That being said it makes a mockery of the journey to the playoffs.
