eide67
All change this Friday. Edinburgh bring in new signing Michael Palm Toft but have R/R for Paco (away at SGP qualifying). Oxford also have riders away or injured and bring in 4 guests - former Monarchs Fredriksen and Hook plus Ben Morley and Jody Scott. (Plus there is still some doubt about Cameron Heeps fitness.) A bit worrying that Palm Toft has not ridden at all this season, hopefully Edinburgh have managed to arrange some practice at Armadale for him. Great to see Sam back as ever. Could be another close one. Friday 6th June: Edinburgh Monarchs v Oxford Cheetahs (Championship), Armadale, 7:30pm STELLAR MONARCHS: Michael Palm Toft, rider replacement for Paco Castagna, Jonatan Grahn, Kye Thomson, Justin Sedgmen (Capt.), Victor Palovaara, Mark Parker. S D TIMMO CHEETAHS: Sam Masters (Capt.), Ben Morley, Lasse Fredriksen, Jordan Jenkins. Cameron Heeps, Jody Scott, Jacob Hook.

Mr Blobby
Yeah but a joke this one but what are you supposed to do. Oxford turning up with 2 of their 7 riders. Heeps, injured, both reserves and Gusts away on SGP2 and SGP qualifying, unsure what Knudsen is doing probably the same. Fell it makes Oxford a touch stronger as Sam will more than likely have 7 rides and Hook and Lasse will be much better than Gusts and McDiarmid. Is Heeps no.2 in their averages?

It’s getting beyond farcical these .Fewer fixture supposedly because own riders availablity and now it guests for every fixture at most tracks.Mediocre riders taking the p#ss out of GB speedway away 1/2 the season.

He has done well so far this season for it to be 6.22 already!

I don't think riding in SGP/SGP2 qualifiers is taking the P out of British speedway. It's up to British speedway to schedule its fixtures better.

The SGP2 qualifier was originally, as far as i know, the same day as the qualifiers at Glasgow and Pardubice, then date was changed to last saturday, then this saturday.
Hilly
How on earth does a fixture like this go ahead? Fixture planning at its finest, especially with so many gaps, surely a more suitable date could be found?

Heeps injured can’t be helped, Gusts wasn’t originally in the Oxford team and the SGP2 was moved after a call off.

szkocjasid
A bit late now, but could they have moved the Edinburgh vs Oxford NDL match to this date once they knew so many riders would be missing? Any Oxford fans who had already planned to travel up / took time off work / booked hotels, would still get to see an Oxford team riding? Having recently booked a hotel room for a fixture that got moved, I can understand why they may not want to postpone at short notice. szkocjasid
Normally I'd question putting r/r at 2 when it's the second highest averaged rider, feeling that it would be a waste of Masters' extra ride coming in heat 8, but that's not the case this time. Heat 8 could conceivably be Sedgmen & Palovaara against Masters & Hook!

I thought that the whole idea of having NDL matches at the weekend was due to rider availability, as a lot of the NDL riders are still at school so Sat/Sun fits in better. Can only ask the clubs if their riders are available. Birmingham race on Mondays, King's Lynn on Wednesdays, Plymouth are racing on a couple of Tuesdays and Poole just ran an individual on a Wednesday, so it is possible to run away from weekends. King Jamie
Something of a farce. Shame really, as Oxford was one of the meetings I was looking forward to. Sam Masters getting 7 rides is enough to induce sleep. Watching him dribble round the white line whilst half a lap ahead is not my idea of entertainment. I pay money to watch racing, not exhibitionism. He has the highest average of any rider in the Championship and is the only second tier rider with a Premiership average of over 7.00 (indeed, it's over 7.50!). "Look at me... dribble, dribble... I'm too good for this League... dribble, dribble... another win... Ker-ching!" Joy 🙁

Look how difficult it was to get a replacement for Cairns though.

But before Cairns got injured they had 16 NL/NT riders available. Anyway, all I said is could they have ran the NL fixture instead of a match with multiple guests? Even if it wasn't two complete NL sides, would that have been a better alternative to an Oxford Champ side with only 2 of their own riders? I agree that Sam should not be in championship and probably not Bomber too, If Poland is still a thing for riders, why do they want to stay in championship, easy points and money perhaps? I think Monarchs will tank Oxford especially with Victor still at reserve
