So many questions, in an ideal world the One League system is the way to go but it will have a dramatic effect on the way it operates with costs etc.

No way will the likes of Kurtz , Bewley , Fricke , Doyle etc be able to ride in such a League even the so called lesser riders like Masters, Lawson, Harris (Heat leaders in both leagues) prefer and demand to ride in two British league sides to make a living.

Its a complicated and sad way the British Leagues have evolved.

One league or two that is the question? So you list a crop of 'top riders' who won't be able to ride in a one league system. And so many, too many, double up to make a living?...So the loss of those star performers will affect speedway attendances will it? I don't think it can do so as attendances are surely already dire. Let's have a guess at how many watch the current batch of stars i.e. GP level and "the so called lesser riders"....lose them all and attendances will plummet?..But come on how many teams get a decent crowd nowadays? So I think one league is the best format and hopefully the stars will re-consider deserting the UK and eventually return. Can anyone tell me approx attendances for each UK team - I bet not many attract 1000+???

What about Lambert?

Not sure about Fricke. But think Dan, Brady and Doyle are. There was a time when Lambert was living in Germany? But feel like it could be Poland now 🤷‍♀️

So do Poole, so that is mainly to do with winning rather than GP riders, if that is what you meant.

And in the none GP/Poland's supremacy days attendances would be double those.....more teams in each UK division made for greater 'spectator variety' - and the public and media outlets loved the sport. One bigger league for 2026 can recapture some lost support.

unfortunately not every team can be a winning team no matter what sport though. fans (me included) can be very fickle, so its down to the promoters to get people there even if there team isnt winning.

By using guests and riders doubling up?..........nah not good for a proper pro sport is it?

Thats the gamble

You could recapture some lost support or it could drive away the little that is left......

Surely it's gamble worth taking because the current rock bottom attendances need a major boost. I think those who watch speedway nowadays will stay loyal whatever. And the only way to attract the 50/50 followers back through the turnstiles is via a more varied fixture list. Meeting the same teams 4 or more times each season just breeds complacency. Not that the riders care, of course, but Joe Public needs more variety.!!!!

So the Polish bubble on attendances finally bursts on what should have been the biggest night of World Speedway!

Call it as you want but the combined attendances of the Speedway Of Nations Semi Finals and Final night would not have half filled a magnificent Stadium, WHY?

I have posted previously of my thoughts, but additionally I must add now that with all the school holidays and fine weather (Hopefully during them) more meetings need to be scheduled around them.

If a rider wants to concentrate on riding abroad then so be it.

Many young supporters now identify with the present up and coming riders and prefer the interaction with them.

I stand by my original post and hopefully it is taken into consideration at any meeting deciding the format of the future.

And PGE Ekstraliga attendances plummeted from 9625 last year down to a pathetic 10325 this year.

What bubble burst out of interest?

You've got your theory and I’ve got the factual answer, in Poland, this wasn’t the biggest night in world speedway. Poland doesn’t care about ‘World’ speedway, same they don’t care about British, Swedish or Danish. Ekstraliga final was bigger than this to them, and so was Vojens GP final. They have small interest in SoN.

Out of curiosity, why does everyone think it’s a joke that Polish fans didn’t fill the stadium, it was £40-90 for one ticket. I’ve been to Ekstraliga matches for £7. Also, Poland wasn’t the only team racing, where were the masses of Swedish, British, Danish, Australian, Czech fans? And before you say “it was in Poland” the FIFA world cup is all over the world but millions of other nations travel to different countries to watch it.

I think the key point is that SON is not an attractive format to many, hence fewer travelling fans, let alone fewer local fans to whom, in this case, it was an expensive exercise

So Arnieg and ShaonaXtra want British speedway to fall into extra insignificance due to the Polish fans not giving a crap about the Speedway of Nations due to its insignificance!

Sorry Poland is supposed to be the leader in promoting Speedway as it is the World leader.

If the fans cannot be bothered with International Speedway (As they did not win it) Shame on you.

How pathetic are you clowns>

If we are winning it is great, but if we are losing we will complain.

Pair of idiots who do not care about speedway as they are clowns

Oxford a prime example of that. Cheetahs got bigger crowds than the Spires this season (not that the Cheetahs won anything, but they were at least more competitive).

Pretty sure @arnieg has done more for speedway than 99% of people on this forum. And I'm 100% sure he cares more than you.

Most on here care but it is probably those in charge who have lost touch with what supporters of this particular two wheeled sport want. SON was in the most part boring except for the underdogs in Germany taking a title. It seems that speedway has lost its way at international level and has become very insular from a local league level. It will take something or someone special to pull the sport together at the highest level and as long as the riders and not not the authorities dictate when and how meetings take place and what conditions it is on a downward trajectory. Someone needs to get a grip particularly in the UK as the current set up is failing all genuine supporters.
