Sheffield - for sale

His Excellency (you have to say that loads of times if your Hearn or Warren!) Turki Al-Sheikh could be interested in Speedway.  Someone at Sheffield should get in contact with him on social media and find out. Could end up with Speedway in Saudi Arabia!  Could hold a GP over there.

Sand racing would be better. At least no rain offs with flooded tracks

Owlerton is quite narrow but with long straights. Always compared it to Kingsmead.

Guess on the high revving laydowns - you get it wrong and you will rapidly run out of room.

Owlerton is practically D shaped,no long straits there.

Well you were a co director at Brum so would have more of an idea than most of us 🫠, the rumour has been around for a few months now and he is good friends with Drillerman, my only surprise is that a deal has not already been done, which throws a little doubt as to why hats have not been doffed already, unless it's because Mrs Tophat  prefers him to take a year out.

In my opinion if Mr Tophat did take it over don’t have Mr Roger’s involvement in it because it will close end of season with him running things So my message being get rid  run it yourself then speedway will stay

I'd be wary of this! Utd (Blades) seemed to be the only Saudi prince owned club with no money 😁

The moment they got into the Prem the other season the club was put up for sale

Northampton then

Pray god no utter respect to the old boy for his enthusiasm and willingness to chuck money at the problem but I don't think even a combination of John Berry and Ian Thomas at their peak could make a go of Northampton in the current climate, would love to be proved wrong but just can't see it.

No more East Midlands if he is to be involved and Sheffield new owners will be successful local business operators with close links to Sheffield Speedway and the sport in general.

Both of these does depend on the league format being agreed upon that makes it worth it for both parties

Laurence is already involved elsewhere next season,,all to be revealed soon, tolley wants to be somewhere that unfortunately has huge stumbling blocks to overcome and that’s looking unlikely for 2026 so he either has Sheffield or Leicester for 2026 or gives speedway a miss until his desired choice happens

Your normally in the know Flagrag so fingers crossed that the new owners are experienced, know how to budget and have suitably deep pockets for the early days until they are bedded in.

They have deep pockets, various very successful businesses all self made and a long term association and previous investment in Speedway .

My understanding is that they will have an experienced person joining them initially to guide them through first few months but as mentioned before the League format needs to be right for their business plan of watching top class racing at Sheffield

Sheffield New Owners successful local business operators with close links to Sheffield Speedway and the sport in general.

3 parties come to mind.

Ian Hunter from Sheffield Window Centre former Sheffield Speedway Sponsors.

The Stead Family.

Ashley and Jonno Birks.

Possibly a consortium involving all or some of these.
