Tungate is 35, Wright 37, and Zagar 42.   Belle Vue go mainly for young riders.  I can see them going for one mid-30s rider with experience in the middle-order, but none of those three.

All proven scorers around the NSS though.

Tried and Tested in a watered down League could be the way to go instead of taking a punt on Newcomers that may struggle.

LOL.   That's exactly what they are.

A testimonial is granted for someone who has been an asset of a club for 10 years.

When a rider is tranferred they are entitled to a percentage of the transfer fee for each year they have been an asset.  Thus to compensate someone who hasn't moved, for the years of missing out on a percentage transfer fee, they got a testimonial.

I understood the asset system - along with loan fees - had been dispensed with? And testimonials were considered for riders that have been in British speedway for 10 years?

Testimonials are now given to any rider who has put 10 years into British Speedway and that's not even 10 consecutive years... or even full seasons!

Exactly right.

When we had the asset system, riders were given a percentage of the transfer fee.   I think 2.5% of the fee for each year they had been attached to the club.  (Although it may have been 5% for the first year and then 2.5% for subsequent years up to a maximum of 25% or 27.5% - someone will remember).

Testimonials were compensation for a rider who had stayed an asset of a club for 10 years, and had therefore never had a cut of any transfer fee.

It was also possible to be transferred to another club, but refuse a cut of the transfer fee, in which case the years of service continued to build up towards a testimonial.

With the asset system seeming to have bitten the dust now, I guess Testimonials will also disappear.

Someone will know the cut of the transfer fee.  I think it was 5% for the first year, and 2.5% for every other year up to 10 years.
