Fricke , Lawson , Douglas build around those 3

Can’t have Fricke and Douglas as you can only have one rider over 8 points… hence why Fricke is going to Lynn

What are your thought's Lions fans in regards to Fricke's rumoured move to King's Lynn.

Fricke is a very good rider on UK tracks however I think it's a good call by Stewart Dickson.

Fair enough, take your point, but the system is still a farce!

Tell that to the Americans then.   The draft system is how they acquire college players in American Football, Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey and Football.   They don't seem to think it's a farce.

Agreed, but I was referring solely to its implementation in British Speedway.

Would be gutted to see Fricke leave. Id rather keep him and go for strength n depth but what I will say is Douglas and masters have been good riders for us in recent seasons so I'm not going to cry about us losing fricke

Going on averages, Lions would lose the best No.1 in the league and be left with the worst (no disrespect to Dougy) going by the rumours of a five team league. This is of course assuming that each of the other teams (except Lynn) will be able to retain a current big hitter. Still too many unknowns at the moment.

That’s been “done” for a while. Leicester apparently made him a very good offer that Ipswich wouldn’t match. Similar to Rew and Birmingham last winter.

And they say Ipswich buys the league 😂

Fair play to Thompson if that’s the case he has been awesome for us these last 3 years.

Equally Louis stands his ground & won’t bust the budget so fair play to him too.

I don't see value in Fricke's average as their is little opportunity to improve it much next season so I would not have him in my team for 2026.

If only four other riders in the league have over an eight point average he could possibly increase his own...

He did get a few "gimmes" when Becker was out, but he would have faced the other five eight point riders very often in Ht 13 and Ht 15...

With one less to race this year I can see him again having a good season...

(If there is a season for the top tier!!)

I'd be a bit concerned at Douglas being No.1 although it would all depend on the strength of the league overall. He had a great season this year but whether he could maintain that sort of form again...?

A rider on the up is Douggie, It's a gamble for sure but it's a gamble that I'd take as well.

36.00 for a Top 5.

1. R. Douglas

2. D. Thompson

3. T. Brennan????

4. L. Becker or R. Lawson

5. S. Masters

36.00 for a Top 6.

1. R. Douglas

2. K. Howarth

3. N. Morris

4. D. Thompson

5. S. Masters

6. Just under 4.00

It’s not so much the pay that Leicester offered that Ipswich couldn’t match, It was a lucrative sponsorship deal that would allow Dan to invest in equipment and to hopefully progress his career further on the continent however it was only available if he rode for Leicester as company wanted to be able to watch him regularly at home

I said “wouldn’t” match, not couldn’t flagrag.  Good luck to the lad but he owes Chris Louis a great deal of gratitude for helping move his career on an upward trajectory after originally being dumped by Leicester in the first place.  There was little difference between the Thompson twins at the time Ipswich signed him. That gap is now as big as the Grand Canyon.

Personally I think this is the best move for all parties. He rides Leicester far better than Foxhall so I think it’s a much better signing for Leicester, then it would have been for Ipswich to retain him on his current average. Good luck to him he’s been great for us.

There’s been a fair few rumours in other threads re the Lions and last years riders but as far as I can see nothing coming out of the club’s ownership which at least avoids fuelling those rumours.
Given that now both Sheffield & Ipswich are for sale with Chris Louis stepping away from the league organisation what does this mean for the future of the Lions?

I think its too early to say. There's too many ifs, buts, and maybes at the moment. If we finish up with one league who will Dickson manage?

Isn't Mr Dickson co-promoter at Leicester while only team manager at Berwick, so I'd have thought Leicester especially since he's been in position so long now
