But he is fit. No need to test that for someone else. Fair point, although as a general rule, I wouldn't mind my teams rider making a comeback as a guest. In this case helping Poole win doesn't harm Berwick, so I would welcome the guest booking. Not sure that is a road you want to go down really. Good point, I wouldn't stop my riders from guesting, but would rather they didn't ride for qualification rivals. Interestingly fans often point out the flaws with guests, but when it's their own team, never see them complain about using a guest, or say they'd rather ride with a junior instead? Of course that would put them at a disadvantage, unless it was the same rule for all.
crescent girl Posted yesterday at 09:44 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:44 AM Just thinking....... If the hospital hadn't called JJ back for what (fortunately) proved an unnecessary alarm, and he had continued racing over the past weekend, I'm pretty sure Berwick would have won at both Redcar and Workington. Rider replacement got 3 points and 5 points in these meetings -- I submit that the JJ we have seen since joining Berwick would have achieved considerably higher returns, and the whole picture in terms of Championship standing would be brighter.. But it is what it is, and although the hospital has been overly cautious in this instance, he was correct in not resuming until they gave the all-clear. Hey-ho.

It just the way the sport is run though, throughout the season every Clubs has used guests. If you went into detail they have probably spoiled their own Clubs chances in various Competitions.Thats UK speedway. Shame that a hospital trip is the main reason for another season of no playoffs for Berwick. Every single season theres something seems to derail that charge. Really unlucky. Not sure that is a road you want to go down really. Easily solved, eradicate the need and opportunity for these riders to guest. Plan the fixtures better, don't let riders who want to race in Poland ride in the Championship and use R/R and junior riders as guests. Stop running the sport for the benefit of the riders and do it instead for the benefit of the paying customers and the clubs. Set the tracks up for supporters not riders!
