Yes

I have read it and thankfully there was a handful of promoters, riders and sponsors there who can see the bigger picture and if anything came to any fruition from it at all then it’s a damn sight more than the naysayers who will argue a point to sit a home and do nothing and expect the fruits to just land on their lap, we are where we are because of that mindset

Or the opposite opinion, we get no where with the attitude of ‘ I am right and the rest of you are wrong ‘ promoter type attitude.

I’ve never said I’m right, I know some especially on here are sometimes way off the mark because I MAY know the facts but I don’t need to correct them, it’s a forum, it’s opinions, nobody is right or wrong, promoters are in the main decent folk with the odd exception, I read all posts and look to what people are saying and at the end of the day my opinion is a valuable or useless as yours even without quoting someone to get your point over

Well a number of people on here have mentioned about what is the point of clubs attending this event. From our perspective, our stall was very popular and was crowded pretty much all day. I practically lost my voice by the end of the day. A very large number of supporters from all over the country joined our monthly Forever Fund lottery, which has been set up not only to help with legal costs (contributed just under a third so far) but to assist us in the future. From that view it was massively worthwhile.

If anyone on here wants to join, it costs £10 a month with cash prizes up for winning every month. Each month people receive a newsletter with results and details of companies nationwide offering discounts on products and services. Sarah Miles runs the fund, for more information about the fund or to join email panthersforeverfund@gmail.com

But Mick, you must admit you have a particular situation to keep in the public eye with an audience that is primarily committed speedway fans.

It's a sad fact that there will, no doubt, be a few promoters who visited the weekend's collectors fair, who will now be patting themselves on the back and claiming that, by standing around in the village hall talking to a few diehard fans, they have done their share of promoting and marketing their club to a new audience.   That will be the excuse not to do any real promotion and marketing, and next season they'lll be wondering why crowds are down.

What a load of cr@p several people from worky made a 400+ miles round trip at their own expense ,to spread the name of worky to all who attended and by all accounts sold a bit of merchandise to help the club funds

Several people from Workington, who have never seen speedway before, travelled all the way to a speedway collectors fair, and now say they will become regular fans?

Pull the other one.

Exactly.    Peterborough have an important message they need to spread throughout existing speedway fans in the East Midlands/East Anglia area.     It makes total sense for them to be present at a Speedway collectors fair in the East Midlands, which is full of existing speedway fans from the East Midlands.

That's a totally different scenario from expecting the Glasgow promoters to make a 600-mile round trip to Coventry, to a hall full of existing speedway fans, hoping to market the sport to some Glaswegians who have never seen speedway before, and who aren't there!

Exactly.    So a pointless exercise in preaching to the converted!

Not a single non-speedway fan in the hall, but some misguided souls think promoters should have been there, "marketing the sport" to people who weren't there.

I would say 100% of people who were spoken too know workington have a track already. Good for them on selling 'a bit' of merchandise.

Maybe they should have been listening to the fans rather than 'preaching'

I have to say that the arrogance of some people is quite stunning.

I am not a Workington supporter, but you should be aware that there is a long history of Speedway in the town. I have been to Workington many a time when I was supporting Sunderland back in the 70's.

Try doing a little research before you start trying to belittle people.

Well done you Workington Supporters on your great example.

That's far from the truth. I saw several people with white stickers on their shirts that had come to the motor museum & were allowed into the speedway show & some of our fantastic speedway people were more than happy to spread the gospel of our sport. Now weather or not any of those people have or ever will attend a speedway event I can't answer but the seed has been sown.

It might help your case if you didn't refer to an important museum as a 'village hall' and if you could tell the difference between East and West. Coventry is and always has been in the West Midlands.

Did you happen to read the post you are replying to?     Because your strange reply has no relevance to his post.

I've seen some pointless arguments on this forum but this one takes the biscuit!
