Maybe this is the real reason that Chris Louis resigned as a Director of Speedway Futures and has got out altogether?

Is this all a last, desperate throw of the dice, selling the whole thing to gambling companies?

I've only been to live speedway a couple of time post 1992 but didn't they try getting the bookies involved previously and it flopped ?

They did, not sure it flopped, but as with so many things in Speedway it just wasn't nurtured and grown, they kind of said here you are bookies you now have the privilege of being involved in Speedway now it's up to you... instead of working with them to really make something of it.

I wouldn't know but I bet that things are way different now in sports gambling and the ways people participate! Davies is Chair of an "upmarket" gambling company and Redknapp is Bet Victor's best salesman. I can see a big gambling company buying exclusive rights and being given free rein to do what they like

I'm not sure The betting companies would be interested in speedway,all gambling is open to "fixing",but speedway perhaps more than most.Engine failures,falls,missing the gate,getting filled in,,perhaps too much risk for the bookies.

I would be happy with all kinds of match fixing as long as King's Lynn finally manage to break it's top league duck, crowds double, it looks like a well run professional outfit.

A bit of fraud & scandal has never really done any other sport harm.

Just as a point of interest - as a non-betting person - is it currently possible to bet on the results of British matches?

As Dean alludes, the ACU have got themselves in a right mess with Grass Track and have lost Track Racing Committee Members one after the other since they treat Paul Hurry very shabbily. It currently has a "steering" group made up of ACU officials and representatives from regional clubs holding the fort until a solution can be found. They can't make their mind up which way to go so are conducting a "root and branch" review of the sport before deciding a way forward. Have a look at the press releases on the ACU web page and you'll see it all has a familiar ring to it.

Is there any motorsport that is actually run without all these issues.
