Chris Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Share Posted 1 hour ago 🚨SAVE RYE HOUSE SPEEDWAY - WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR THE APPEAL The Speedway track at Rye House Stadium has been removed and building works carried out without planning permission. East Herts District Council has served an Enforcement Notice and the occupier has appealed against it. The Appeal will be heard on 21-23 October 2026 in the Council Chamber at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8EQ. Following our application, the nature of part of the Appeal has been changed to an Inquiry and Rye House Action Group is now a Rule 6 Party. That means we can take full part: putting our own evidence to the Inspector, calling witnesses and questioning the other side's case. This is particularly significant because it will allow us to make the case the Local Authority had failed to. This is a very late change and the Appeal is only weeks away. The other parties will have professional representation and we must too. So we have launched a GoFundMe page to raise £40,000 for legal representation and support costs. https://gofund.me/7b9de8c13 We know times are hard for many people and every gift, large or small, makes a difference. If you're not sure what to give, think of the Saturday nights at Rye House you've missed since the racing stopped and what that might mean to you. Every penny raised goes to the Appeal. Any money left over will go to our continuing campaign to bring speedway back to Rye House. Save Coventry Speedway did the same at Brandon in 2023: they took Rule 6 status, funded their case through GoFundMe and saw the developer's appeal dismissed. We want to do it at Rye House too.
