Poole Pirates Vs Edinburgh Monarchs 10th June BSN Semi Final 2nd leg

That league is pitiful. That’s why Poole p*ss it every year

...and all within the same 40 point team building limit!!

All of this 'from the gate' criticism - its a shame other teams don't have riders that can gate, like Pirates do in most of their away meetings!🤣

Lawson clocking the fastest time of the season so far. Credit to the track team.

Not a great meeting, there was some passing but Edinburgh were very poor and uninterested in competing much, the track was not that bad considering the weather but only one side seemed to want to attack it.

Not a great meeting… again.

Edinburgh were very poor, we were very poor, as were Oxford, Redcar, Scunthorpe, etc.

You will be crowned champions of not only the league, but also the KO Cup and BSN Series; of that there is no doubt. Poole know how to build a good side.

But Jesus, you don’t half make it mind numbingly boring.

I don't think they did considering they are checking updates for amount of passes!

Not much of a crowd last night, the biggest crowds at Poole are when the holidaymakers invade the area

Also fans who live further away like Southampton etc, probably not risk it considering any showers were generally predicted to be heavy and settled for the stream instead.

I was very surprised when i finished work last night to find out it was still on!

This isn’t football; there aren’t tens of thousands of paying customers and willing sponsors. We don’t have that luxury; our product is our commodity and at Poole, you’re doing it a disservice.

I won’t repeat the story about my two colleagues who I recommended attend Wimborne Road last season who, ironically, haven’t been back.

British speedway needs a product that entertains the newcomer; has them sitting on the edge of their seat. Poole doesn’t do that.

If Edinburgh had been up for it, could have been a good meeting, we had a lot of rain, riders from both teams went out to test it, you had to attack it as Lawson proved with the fastest time of the season.

95% of teams are beat long before they arrive at poole.

However you dress it up poole are more fiscally secure than other teams and can tempt the young improvers down most seasons .

They are completely wasted in division 2 really .

To be fair, crowd wasn't that bad considering the weather, and still better than most by far

Disagree entirely. We can no longer assess this on an individual meeting basis; it’s a collective issue, given how often it happens.

It’s genuinely a disgrace. There is no need for it because you build strong sides that will win things without the need for the utterly brain damage gate-and-go.

12 of the 15 heats last night were over by the second bend of the first lap.

I watch all the BSN meetings and some of those meetings are no better, I'm afraid it's not just a Poole thing

So we hear people complain week after week about Wimborne Road, the track prep, gate & go, etc. Yet you still do have opposition riders who come down and are very competitive. Part of the lack of overtaking is inevitable with a strong team like Poole, because opposition can't catch them let alone overtake. Lawson, Harris, Scott, Rushen and others all manage to overtake afterall. Wimborne Road's layout, track width, & surface may not be the most conducive to overtaking of the leagues tracks, but I don't think it's the worst either. Maybe the Pirates Team dominance has something to do with all the criticism?

I’ve watched speedway for over 50 years and in my honest opinion the bikes have become too powerful for the tracks. Once these riders hit the dirt line they are gone, as was depicted at the recent GP in Manchester. On the first night Frick gated and was gone with each rider subsequently following his line. I thought the second night produced better racing, but over the years I’ve witnessed riders going wider and wider only inches from the fence. I don’t have any immediate answers but unfortunately engine progress is ultimately defining the sport we enjoy. I never thought I’d see the day when a speedway rider would have a laptop plugged into his bike!

Why oh why do you continue to watch Poole meetings then? Your brain must be well addled!  Its a shame you do the sport no favours at all by continually criticising......!

Poole have won a fair number (not all) of their away meetings in recent seasons as well as home meetings - sometimes by big scores, sometimes by Superheats, often by gate-and-go .........

You start by saying you are not assessing on an individual basis but finish by criticising an individual meeting.

Last night's meeting was affected by the weather and Edinburgh looked beaten before a wheel was turned, ok fair enough have a couple of heats to assess it but after that they should have been able to compete but showed little desire to do so.

Last night's conditions should have suited Edinburgh or any away team as when conditions change it usually suits the away team and Redcar proved last season we are not unbeatable at home.

It’s not rocket science the Poole track is awful …. I’m an Ipswich fan and ours is no better…. Just the simple fact is Poole fans can’t accept it

They always build a title side and they are happy being a big fish in a small pond and the crowd don’t care about the racing it’s only about winning

Poole should be in the top league but they don’t want to be while they can just scoop up all the talent in the lower league … you would think the fans would want more after glory years they had

Name me a 'big fish' that isn't losing money this season. Poole opt for Championship racing for primarily financial reasons ie not losing money. Not owning their own stadium Poole get no revenue from any stadium outlets. Their income derives solely from admissions, sponsorship and advertising by providing successful, trophy-winning teams within a financial budget, whilst attracting decent crowds. Simples.

Promoter Matt Ford has recently stated publicly that Premiership racing might only be an option for Poole if there is a decent TV contract plus being allowed to race at home on their established racenight ie Wednesdays.

Waste of time trying to explain the reasons for riding in the championship, they are all a bit thick, let them carry on with their so called top league.

I think Gavan is still in shock that Jason Doyle has gone to his favourite club Belle Vue
