Northampton Foxes v Sheffield Tigers Thurs 18th June

Recommended Posts

Teams not officially announced for this meeting yet, however Ekstraliga 2 have announced teams for Rzeszow v Poznan for Thursday evening and it shows Pickering riding for Rzeszow.  With 4 Premiership teams riding Thursday that means R/R or guest from either Leicester or Belle Vue.  I’d say Sheffield will go down the R/R route as all riders available to cover.

Can see a Foxes home win 49-41 with Sheffield’s lack of firepower in middle order and reserves coming to bite them again.

What the Sheffield captain? Surely not  🤔, especially after their team manager went on his holidays for the Leicester match... TEAM 👊

Suppose with Morris giving away Thursday’s as one of UK’s nights to Poland we’re starting to see the impact it’ll have with weakened teams becoming more regular. Just wonder where the the influx of all these riders form continent that Morris said would happen by giving this race night away are ?

He's seriously out of form though

Dan Thompson would be a better option I would think than Masters on current form and how he was at Northampton a few weeks ago for Leicester . Sam really struggled with the track and is not in great form in the Premiership

NORTHAMPTON: Jaimon Lidsey, Troy Batchelor, Jonas Jeppesen, Lewis Kerr, Nicolai Klindt, Kye Thomson, Luke Harrison.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Anders Rowe, Chris Holder, Leon Flint, Josh Pickering R/R, Jye Etheridge, Luke Killeen.

Sheffield are "without skipper Josh Pickering who is required to fulfil recently picked up Polish League commitments."

Captain fantastic 👏

If Poland want to race Thursday, they'll be racing Thursday regardless of Morris agreeing to it or not. Ultimately its down to who writes the biggest cheque, and whether we like it or not that will always be Poland and they'll always get preference over riders.

Also about who actually honours those cheques, look at Rowe at same club as Pickering owed around £20k so far this season.  Vast majority of riders who race over there get nowhere near what they’ve been promised in their contracts

Lewis Kerr is a decent guest around Brafield and that should give Foxes enough to get home. I expect Jack Holder to go through the card but the rest should be vulnerable enough for Foxes to pick up the points they need. Can't make it myself tonight but I hope it's a big crowd.

But a good amount still get what they're owed. Even if its not everything thats been promised, they'll still get a considerable amount more than what they'll ever get in the UK.

Ultimately Poland will do what's best for them, and with the investment they put into the sport rightfully so, and the riders will rightfully give preference to those that will offer the most to what is a short and unpredictable career.

I feel situations like this are going to happen more, and we'll potentially see less willingness from the Polish sides to let their riders do as much abroad as they do currently.

Holder has score of 4, 6 and 8 away from home this year. He's not ridden there before.

So I'd say that's unlikely.

The new Northampton safety fence that was coming next week a month ago looks remarkably identical to the King's Lynn fence...

Start of meeting delayed due to a rider getting a puncture in the pits and he's changing his tyre... one day they'll manage to start on time 🤷‍♂️

... at least they've recruited a Mr Fox 🦊

Just now, Mr Blobby said:

Awful management by Adams not putting Thomson in heat 12. Cost his team the meeting potentially.

That's because he's a spanner man and not a team manager.
