Agree with McDiarmid

But I do think Ben and Zach are the better rider to Lawson, and probably a better captain than Lawson. Lawson more reliable especially away, but Ben before he left and Zach last year were out performing Lawson

Name me a track Lawson is Poor at championship level and there’s your answer.

Zach cook doesn’t go well at Plymouth and Berwick.

He can ride in Poland when we are at those tracks 😂

Think looking at it logically a midweek track is ideal for McDiarmid and him not being at Oxford he would slot into Poole middle order nicely alongside Kennett who I see putting 2points on his average.

When Danny Ford said the other day we won’t be favourites and there would be some surprises I think Cairns Being at Number 5 would be and McDiarmid would be as a lot of fans would of expected him to stay at Oxford.

Not a traditional type Poole team but plenty of room for improvement from everyone in the team.

Predicted 1-7

Lawson 8.15

Rushen 5.01

Harrison 5.74

Mcdiarmid 5.53

Cairns 6.44

Kennett 4.62

Lightcap 4.00

Total 39.49

On paper a good looking young side but can't see a result in heat 13 + 15 with that side, could even struggle at home ( hopefully ) 😜

Is he goldilocks? This track is too small, this track is too big.. 😉🤭

Scunny? He only got 6.

Order of preference:

Ben

Zach

Rich

Although Ben is about as realistic as Chris Holder. I don't really expect it.

Problem with Rich is he doesn't want to be captain (or that is the general concenus), so if majority of team are young riders then that becomes an issue.

If Kennett is in the team then why not give it to him for a season or 2 that’s if he is.

I won’t because I don’t think there is one! I simply believe that the cooks are better riders than Lawson, but I can certainly agree that in the championship Lawson is the more reliable rider.

I think either of these teams would be very strong.

Even without knowing other teams, I'd have them as favourites based on the amount of improvement I could see riders getting on their averages.

Think Lawson,Lightcap,Rushen,McDiarmid,Harrison, can all add 0.50-1pt on,Cairns at number 5 I’d be happy if he managed to retain his average if he was there all season and Kennett I’d think a bit more maybe 2points.

Ben Cook is twice the rider that Lawson is…put both in the same Polish side then Ben Cook would destroy Lawson

Having said that , over a full Championship season then Lawson would probably outscore Ben Cook as it’s almost a completely different sport and both riders seem to have completely different ambitions……..I don’t think there’s a remote chance of Ben Cook riding for anybody in the Championship though

I agree with you in that id have Ben back in heartbeat, can’t see it tho. I also believe his ave would be the new converted prem one rather than his old one? So it would be 9.93

After looking into this, it appears you're right. So, with Ben's Championship average being converted from his Premiership average, making it 9.93 rather than the 8.55 figure he achieved while riding in the Championship in 2024, and Zach reportedly saying that he's giving the Championship a miss in 2027, that leaves Lawson.

R. Lawson 8.15

C. Rushen 5.01

L. Harrison 5.70

M. McDiarmid 5.53

W. Cairns 6.44

E. Kennett 4.62

S. Lightcap 4.00

If this is the team very harsh treatment of Kyle Newman who i would of thought deserved a team place after coming into the team and doing a great job especially to replaced by Kennett  baffles me!

I don’t disagree but if you want to win you have to be ruthless and I feel away from home Kyle is not great and Kennetts performances away as guest have been very good and he would have much more scope to improve his average than Kyle,if Kennett and Lightcap both move out of reserve we would have potentially have Rushen and Harrison at reserve and if we have a weaker no5 then we’re guna need very strong reserves.

My main fear with this team is of course the lack of power at 3 and 5. Ever since Poole have been in the championship they’ve always had 2 or even 3 riders capable of riding at number 1.
I’m slightly surprised at Mitch’s average, whenever I’ve seen him at Poole I’ve been impressed, but then Bowes also looked fast round Poole.
I wonder if they’d swap Mitch and Slater out for 2 5point riders with the hope that they find a world beater, like Basso and Nagel were. But issue there is it could back fire like Glasgows did this year.
if it’s the 1-7 above it’s an exciting young team, and I think Danny would be right in that on paper it’s not favourites but if they all progress like they can, then who knows.

You could say kennett and Kyle are like for like(kennett not so popular haha) so you've swapped mc diomed and Harrison  for zac and kerr, good not to be favourites, going to be an interesting season.Really hoping next seasons championship can be competitive and unpredictable, even as  a poole supporter I don't think it's any good for british speedway for any team to continually dominate.

I would not be suprised to see Mitch McDiarmid miss the Championship altogether in 2027. He seems to me to be an ambitious young man, he has shown what he can do in the Championship at Oxford over the last couple of seasons & he has won a place in Northampton's Premier league team. He already has a place in the Polish system & no doubt top league clubs in Denmark & Sweden will have an eye on him.
