GP venues and news for 2027

I can’t see who else can hold it? A return to Cardiff isn’t happening. 
 

Ipswich I can tell you is planned, but that won’t be next year. My understanding is Mayfield are still in negotiations with the lease holders to get the extended access to the stadium they need. They’re prepared to front up rent for seasons in advance to get in, and rework the track and pit area so it meets FIM standards. 
 

That agreement hasn’t yet been reached the last I heard from a reliable source. 
 

Should leave it where it is for now IMO. It’s a great weekend having two GP’s on consecutive days on an excellent race track.

My concern with Ipswich is the track shape, its simply not big enough for a GP, if they can make the track bigger than maybe, but im not sure it would offer up great racing as it is.   But i wouldn't be against them giving it a try, i think GPs should be shared about, it adds variety and keeps it fresh for everyone.

I’d be surprised if it’s next year for Ipswich because I don’t think Foxhall will be ready but maybe things have changed in recent weeks. I was told 2028 was more realistic for Ipswich but again, maybe the situation has changed.

Heard that Coleman is looking for a non-league football stadium that has a decent capacity where he can lay a track around the pitch.

So the 2027 Manchester Grand Prix will be at the Etihad Stadium.

Just what I want to hear! Even if no speedway fans of other clubs come to Foxhall it will still be sold out, this town and county has a massive sport following and once it does the rounds in the local news it will be hard to get a ticket! I think you’ll see 10,000+ at Foxhall. I hope Coleman gives priority to the witches fans for early ticket sales too.

Yeah, shame about that. Hopefully the TBC round is at the NSS, otherwise the racing has just taken a huge nosedive. It's great that Ipswich has loads of space, big capacity, etc., but the track is not a patch on the NSS, or even that good at all. Still, Coleman is entitled to do as he pleases.

I am pleased the GP is going back to Oz. The rumours seemed to suggest 2028 but it's good news for the sport. It'll be a once in a lifetime type trip but it'll be great!

They can rename it the “Suffolk Grand Prix”.

From a northern speedway fans point of view it’s in a location that’s hard to get to and I can’t remember watching much decent racing there. At least Belle Vue offered exciting racing.
 

Looked on the BBC sport website today and couldn’t find a single mention of a British rider having a chance at becoming a World Champion. Going from Cardiff to Belle Vue to Ipswich shows the decline of the sport, in my opinion.

Of course I still hope it’s a success, but will be watching on TV.

It can't be.

Oasis are at the Etihad on 12 June, so they wouldn't be allowed to stage another event that close.  It's only a mile away.

Yeah everything you wrote in your first paragraph is how Ipswich feels about Belle Vue and the distance. I have seen meetings at Belle Vue that have been bore fests and even in the SGP it takes until heat 8 or so to get the outside line working so I think everyone needs to relax about losing Belle Vue. Cardiff was a bigger miss than Belle Vue for me.
