Couldn’t have put it better myself. It’ll be a sell out regardless so those turning their nose up are free to do so, it’ll just make it easier for the rest of us. 
 

I’m thoroughly looking forward to both the GP, AND the SGP2 on the Friday. 
 

They’re going to be working hard on upgrading the track in the winter, people will do well to actually give them a chance. They may be pleasantly surprised. 
 

It’s good to see the worlds best put through their paces on something different to the many identikit tracks they’re used to. Let’s be honest, a fair few of the GP’s have hardly been thrill a minute stuff.

Oasis are at the Etihad on 12 June, so they wouldn't be allowed to stage another event that close.  It's only a mile away.

If that was being considered, anyone with any sense would have put Ipswich in June and Belle Vue in August.

Apart from racing wise it’s a good call on every other level from fans POV and financial point of view, yes the track needs something to improve the racing but rough or not if your the best in the world you should be able to ride it

Totally accept that it’s great news for fans of Ipswich speedway and supporters in that part of the country.

But for neutral supporters I think it will generally feel like disappointing news

The centre green is being lowered by 600mm with new drainage and the inside of the track lowered by the same amount to give much better banking. 
obviously the majority of the track will be removed to allow for a much lower sub base and then a new shale surface will go in replacing the awful clay surface. 
spedeworth are demolishing the existing home straight stand and replacing it with a three tier building right up to the first bend. At a cost of £1.75 million. There will be a tunnel through the stand to enter the track. 
new pits area as current ones will be in the way of the new lengthened stand. 
But like you say minimal track changes. 😆

Could they consider building false corners on the stock car track just for that weekend ? Moving the white line out 10ft and building a 10ft false corner on stock car track, it’s certainly within their capability

It’s possible but currently the speedway track is about 250mm above the stock car track.  Chris Louis wanted to increase the banking by raising the track but the stock cars would not allow it so only other option is to lower the kerb significantly.  
The track currently is banked to mid track where it flattens off and becomes unusable really hence the one line track. 
I think the intended changes will lead to a much improved track maybe like Redcar style banking

Proof is in the pudding, they said all the previous changes would make it better, it didn’t.

I hope they get it all completed by next August, these big projects are prone to delays.

Maybe Mike lemon plucking the 1/2 a million price to stage a BV GP might of had a bearing, still not sure how he came to that figure for an existing track even with hiring a temp stand

I think it’s great news. Although I know I’m likely to be on my own on this, I prefer a track where riders come within centimetres of each other when trying to pass, rather than there being metres which can happen at BV.

And hopefully Ipswich will provide a GP at prices comparable to European tracks and maybe even have similar facilities. The grandly named “National Speedway Stadium” was only called that as a sop to Manchester City Council when they were being asked to part with many millions of council tax payers money, but it has never lived up to its name. In my opinion.

Sorry mate, but I’m not clued up on this. Who is Mike Lemon and what’s the £500K for? Does he own the NSS and that’s what he’s demanding for a 2027 GP to be hosted there?

Who on earth decided Foxhole was a good idea to host the GP it's a rubbish track.
