From the Ekstraliga site . Great Britain – dates of league matches on Mondays and Thursdays, Sweden – on Tuesdays, Denmark – on Wednesdays, and Poland (PGEE / M2E) – on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Speedway attendances always strugged at Arlington when not on a Sat evening. From the Ekstraliga website it statea GB dates Mon + Thurs. Not sure that would guarantee the best of attendances at Eastbourne. The crowd generally was not a local one, many travelled a fair distance.

Speedway racing games I remember travelling on a Sunday for Eagles v Pirates fixtures. Lunch in one of the local pubs, then a 3pm start (I think). Back home by mid-evening. Great days and good crowds I recall - or was that only because it was a local derby??

I could be wrong, but I believe, per the paragraphs below, that premiership teams need to have 2 x u21s at reserve next year. 1 must be British, the other can be foreign or British. (I've not seen an official BSPL announcement which will confirm either way, the quotes below are from a Polish announcement translated to English). Given the lack of foreign u21s riding in the UK in recent seasons, I am not convinced that there will be a queue, so I expect some teams may end up with 2 Brit u21s. If my understanding of the proposed new rules is correct then the teams need the u21 foreigners more than those riders need the UK teams, and a top Polish u21 rider is generally much further ahead in their development than the Brits are. If I was a top u21 rider, say 2026 u19 World Champ Kevin Małkiewicz, I'd be asking for heat leader money from UK teams. "From 2027, the rules for youth players in the top leagues in Sweden, Denmark, and the UK will also change. A team must include at least one domestic U21 player , while the other can be either domestic or international." "The changes to Under-21 rider regulations could also have an impact on team building, with clubs required to include at least one domestic U21 rider while having greater flexibility over the nationality of a second youth rider." There aren’t enough good riders of that standard to go around, will be relying on some new foreigners to the leagues. Is the championship exempt from these rules again? That’s where these rules would make more sense, should be brits at reserve only if you ask me

I don't believe both u.21s have to be at reserve. Just one!
Triple.H.
Maybe the U21 foreign rider is down to the Poles, the U24 league costs a lot and they may consider subsidising younger riders in their setup to race in a different league, environment with the track variations to be better VFM in the longer term. Also most of the Danish U21 riders like Mikkel Andersen, Baatian Pedersen and Vilads Nagel doing Poland, Denmark and Sweden as the third choice purely easier for logistics. A couple of the young Poles that I know talks have been held with by one UK club asking for quite a chunk of cash as not just points money but also then need mechanic, van, workshop, hotel and flights so in some instances equates to more than likes of Kurtz, Fricke and Holder getting as number 1’s. The continental U21’s know UK needs them more than they need UK so will be some pants being pulled down when it comes to negotiations Edited 12 hours ago by InTheDeepStuff
PhilTheAce
we would love some of the top u21s in the league, but lets be real, we will be looking at rasmus karlsson mitch mcdairmid viv muddle pawel sitek possibly tate zischke if he still counts as an u21 rider, he turns 22 next year and riders like that ideally we would want bailey pawelczak nagel pedersen malkeiwiecz andersson
SteveLyric2
The foreign U21 riders don't have to come from the European 'top' leagues. Aussies, Americans and the 'lesser' euro countries will provide several options.

Daniel Smith
5 minutes ago, PhilTheAce said: of course, but you would want the u21s that are good enough I get your point, we're a league desperate for raised levels. But let's be honest, the majority of our own U21s are NOT top league standard. So why should we expect the same from foreign U21s. What the BSPL are enforcing here, is another back door way of reducing costs, overall a lowering of standards. We'll also see (as I understand, the U21s don't have to be reserves) the bigger clubs will have the best U21s while poor (crap) clubs will just use them at No6/No7. The gulf from the top to bottom of the league will be huge. With the Premiership currently made up of only 6 clubs, we could end up with (being harsh here) the crap clubs being whacked at home week in week out, let alone away. That's just not good for anybody.

Aries
If it is to be Eastbourne, I hope that gets confirmed sooner rather than later. What we don’t want, is this dragging on all winter again and getting confirmed on the eve of the new season leaving yet another team hastily cobbling together the scraps left on the table. Eastbourne or anyone else that comes in to the top flight, need to be protected and the others need to play their part here by not quickly hoovering up all the top number 1’s. Help a newcomer by directing a top rider their way to help them be competitive while they settle in, even if they all have to contribute financially themselves. Northampton got away with it this year with a decent crowd sticking with them until the end, not sure that would be the case at Eastbourne.

And will throwing these youngsters into jobs that they aren't ready for do anything for their careers? Or will they be lost to the sport? The idea of an eight team top league is sound but it might make more sense to stabalise Northampton in 2027 with a view to getting Eastie into the league in 2028.

No you are right and if you go back even further Canterbury on a Saturday and Eastbourne on a Sunday. Many a happy time following Rayleigh on the visits to both these clubs and throw in Crayford, Peterborough and Ipswich, happy times back in the late sixties and early seventies and good crowds with the odd scandal involving fuel additives etc and Dave Lanning or Johnnie Hoskins stirring the pot and the tribal following came to the fore. Romford was another track in the group so you always got good crowds. After the meeting at the Weir all roads lead to the blinking owl cafe on the A127 where the riders also use to go.
