Wasn't it them that broke the British rider rule in the old '2nd Division' (can't remember actual name). NO, NO, NO.
Petecc
Limit the number of times a club can use guests for a rider retired or withholding services.

It was Rye House in 1988 who brought foreigners Peter Schroeck and Jens Rasmussen into the second division. A massive disaster for British Speedway from which it has never recovered.

They had plenty of opportunities to not allow what eventually appened to actually take place.. Journeymen after journeymen, coming over and taking up places, using a revolving door and a short term outlook, whilst UK riders, who could have been developed, gave up.. What we have today, ie not enough UK riders, started there, but, even though it was glaringly obvious as to the end result, it never got rectified... Where once riders doubling up was used as a development tool, it is now used to fundamentally keep the sport going in the UK... An amazing lack of leadership and capability shown down the years . szkocjasid
I would go to 6 rider teams, 5 rides each. Encourage unattached riders to take guest bookings. Ideally the NL & Champ should be closer together to help riders stepping up, so don't lower the NL points limit. Having such a weak NL won't help riders make the step up to the Champ. I don't mind experienced riders like Lambert or Bowtell in the NL, give the next generation someone to aim to beat, once you can beat them, you know you have a chance at stepping up?

Year on year the championship gets closer to the premiership but further away from the national league.

Join Leagues Nothing should be artificially weakened, that has been the downfall of the sport over the past 20 years. It has resulted in some poor number 1s in all divisions and riders at reserve that are nowhere near the required grade. A few years ago there were genuinely good riders not getting a chance at Champ level, no silly season is here and its what 2.00 riders are the best of a bad bunch and be headed for slaughter. They literally only feature because of a low team building average. If you want a new rule for next season bring back minimum 3.00 and make riders earn their places. Fortythirtyeight
Rumour has it that the NDL is to be reduced to a six heat mini match as a second half attraction. I do hope this is wrong for many reasons. Less rides , no time to play with set ups, slick / bald/ rutted tracks….I can go on, let’s hope I don’t have too.
Marky_Mark
And where does that leave stand alone clubs like Buxton?

If this is the case some clubs are going to have to sort out their time keeping. we will not be able to advertise a 19:30 start time & not even have the parade start until 19:35 then race 1 at 20:00 followed by 10+ minutes of grading after Hts 4 & 7 followed by a 20 minute interval after Ht 10/11 then another 10 minutes to pick 2 riders for Ht 15 making a meeting take over 2hours. Promoters wonder why people don't come through their gates to watch. People want value for their hard earnt ££££. The title of our beloved sport is SPEEDway but it would seem to be that those in charge have lost sight of SPEED.

Get Sports Gear Never been a problem at Workington, Berwick or Redcar, the three tracks I visit , as they all host junior league matches , intervals , etc and still complete the meetings in under two and a half hours . Just needs proper management.

May have to ask the BSPL, let’s hope the rumours are wrong but it’s well known the Chairman isn’t a fan of the NDL , for some reason. Which stand alone clubs like Buxton are you referring to? Mildenhall and Iwade haven't entered the NDL since 2023 Isle of Wight, Stoke and Cradley not since 2019. (2 of those are now defunct). So who are the "stand alone clubs like Buxton"?
