  1. Very fair and as you say brutaly honest points. With regards to an up and coming Brit at KL, or as you suggest a lack of one, I'd have to take issue with you on that one, as we have a lad named LEWIS KERR!! But otherwise IMHO, you've made some good and interesting observations there.
  2. Looks like you've probably got the same blinkered people as we have in Norfolk.
  3. Thanks, and mind those Italian girls, they like wealthy mens bums!!
  4. Sounds like a good suggestion to me. With crowds as low as they are, any gamble within reason has got to be worth taking. Still upright on your perch I see Bagpuss No, it's not a problem confined to King's Lynn, but visually, the crowd levels look lower than those of any other National League circuit I visit, which is the majority of them.# The problem is because as I've said many times before, people think National League is second best, and that just is not the case. Of course the riders are less experienced than those in what can only be loosly referred to as 'Elite' riders, but at the end of the day, they are four guys out on track racing their guts out for their respective teams, in times of fractionally slower than the Elite & Premier Leagues. In anycase, when did speed ever make a good race. Undoubtably the Newport crowds were poor for their National League side, but so were those for the Premier League, hence them sadly no longer being. With regards to Poole, I don't know what there crowds were like, so can't really comment. If they were not good, maybe it was because they used the name of Bournemouth, but then of course that might not have been the reason. I'm not deliberately picking holes in your posting mate, as you have as much right to your opinion as I do to mine, but one question I must ask as a result of it is, why would in our case, a King's Lynn fan, supporter or whatever you want to call them/us, prefer to go and watch Ipswich or Peterborough when their own club is staging a meeting. Surely this is just proving my point that Joe Public are snubbing their own team, just because it's National League, and prefering to opt for a local rival side. Surely charity and faithfullness begins at home and not with lining the pockets of your rivals............or am I being naive with my thinking? Don't know where my spell check is, so apologies for the many mistakes I've probably made.
  5. I personally thought this meeting was a terrific advert not just for National League speedway, but British Speedway in general, and at the conclusion of Heat 14, there was never at any time more than four points between the two teams. I'd have to admit on one hand that we probably did throw the meeting away, if that can be a fair way of describing the falls of both Lewis Rose and Jake Knight, But for goodness sake, they were racing their hearts out to win their side points, and yes, made mistakes, but that happens in life, at least they were trying. Without to much doubt, the injury in Heat 3 to James Cockle cost us the match too, and there's little you can do about that. But despite all that, lets not disrespect the efforts of Coventry, because they played an equal part in what was as good a meeting as any I've seen at the Norfolk Arena this year, with Jacobs, Branford and Sarjeant all looking class acts. Brendan Johnson had a good steady night, and for someone who is so new to this level of racing, who could fault Tommy Fenwick. Yes, I'm a 'Young Stars' fan through and through, and think on a level playing field, we would have won last night, but we didn't, and congratulations to Coventry for seizing their opportunity. Beaten but far from disgraced, and I just can't wait for the next meeting in 2-weeks time against the Isle of Wight. As for the attendance last night, well it was better than the 136 of the previous meeting where as Bagpuss quite rightly pointed out at the time, that people probably can't afford two meetings in a week, to which I agreed with his way of thinking. But what can be the reason for last nights still not good enough attendance, people hadn't been asked tro pay for two meetings this week!! I can't and never will understand why the public won't turn out to give the side a viewing. There's obviously a lot of 'Stars' fans that have NEVER been to a 'Young Stars' match, as for whatever reason, they seem to have this misguided conception that it's second best............WRONG!!! If only, if only, if only...............................Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  6. So sorry to hear that news regarding Martin, and I'm sure that all our thoughts are with him and his family and friends.
  7. I understand the A14/A47 is already heavily laden with supporters making their way to East Anglia, whilst I'm anticipating traffic chaos between Norwich & King's Lynn in a couple of hours time. Kent reckon they had around 3,000 at Central Park on Monday, well they ain't seen nothing yet.........................or have they
  8. Thanks for posting those in depth results Mr USA, I just wish that all clubs would provide such an excellent service, rather than just the odd one or two who do. A couple of questions mate, weren't the City Gearbox Vikings originally listed to ride a MDL at King's Lynn tonight? When is now going to take place? Did Coventry stage their round of the MDL Grand Prix on the 26th April, if they did, do you have the results please? Thanks and keep up that good work. Regards Mr Norfolk

Now that's a much nicer photo of you Bagpuss, you looked so mean and lean in your previous one I know that what you say is correct, I just get frustrated when people moan about British riders not developing into top names like our overseas friends, then won't follow a league and club that is trying so hard to achieve that aim. I also realise that I'm a bit biased, because I prefer National League to any other level of racing, so sometimes my vision is a bit blinkered. There are such a lot of good youngsters on the British scene at the moment, that if people don't or as you say, can't afford to support this lower league, them it will fold, and those riders will be lost to the sport. I went to Leicester on Saturday to watch the British Youth Championship (Big Crows), and some of the talent in their, has to be seen to be believed. But if the support for the National League isn't there, and it eventually folds, where does that leave our nation on the world scene. Anyway, providing the weather behaves itself, there is a very good fixture against Coventry tonight, who put up a terrific show at Mildenhall a couple of weeks ago, so let's hope for a good turn-out. There's been no senior meeting this week, so it won't be a case of asking people to fork out twice in a week, and hopefully we'll see a crowd in excess of 1,000
  10. As others have already posted, this was a great occassion to be apart of, and I agree with negatives that have been mentioned, and as Nikko says, they're working on those already, which they need to do. As for the tannoy on the 1st & 2nd bend, I wouldn't know, but I sat in the lower part of the main grandstand in front of the track-shop, and although I could hear the announcer reading out his various bits 'n pieces, it was completely inaudible, and couldn't hear any race times. Nobody else could hear either, so that combined with the inevitable delays that a hot afternoon brings, spoiled the afternoon to extent. As for the stadium and it's facilities, it really is second to none, and the potential there is unbelievable, and there can't be many stadia in the country that can better it, but fear for the long term future unless they can move into a higher league within a year or two. It's difficult to see how National League, as much as I love it, could be a paying concern as the weeks and months go by. So yes, as you'd expect for a first ever meeting it had its highs and lows. Am I glad I went? - MOST DEFINITELY YES Would I go again? - UNDECIDED Although I only ever visit Kent for the British Youth Championship, I much prefer the actual track racing at Iwade. Anyway, good luck for the future, and I hope it does all work out for everyone.
  11. Thank you very much for all your time and effort with vog, I'm very grateful.
  12. Well they are being well helped and encouraged by Phil & Neil Vatcher, but I know what you mean.......and agree.

Spot on with that one Bryn, extremely small crowd missed as good a meeting as anyone could hope to see. Excellent crowd at Leicester last night for the British Youth Championship, just a pity that King's Lynn couldn't have drawn an attendance of half the amount. Still mate, we were the winners, and those that were elsewhere were the losers in speedway terms.
  14. Really enjoyed my first visit to Leicester, even though I had difficulty finding the stadium, guess I should purchase a Sat Nav. Very nice stadium with all the staff so very polite, and hey, what a magniicent crowd turned ot to support the event. Hope Michael Neale is okay following his last race mishap. 16. Good looking line-up wizzer, and very much looking forward to making my first visit to Leicester for this meeting. Is there seating in the stadium, or is it just terracing where you need your own chair?

The King's Lynn line-up is: 1) Darren Mallett 2) Shane Waldron 3) Shane Hazelden 4) James Cockle 5) Lewis Kerr 6) Chris Widman 7) Lewis Rose N.B. Chris Widman is riding as a guest in place of Jake Knight, who is away on Premier League duties. STARRGAZER 1 It's a sad fact of life that promoters at most clubs these days, seem to think the world starts and ends with Facebook and Twitter, and give little thought for the still great many people who rely on the easier to understand websites and forums such as this one, then they wonder why people don't turn up to watch. The majority of the time, I manage to put some news on here, as I do for the Midland Development League team, but for the past week, I've been suffering horrendous PC problems, and haven't been able to access anything much. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow. With regards to the LIghtning side that a fair number of people have spoken to me personally about, I do and will try to find the heat details of the away matches as and when I can, and do have contacts at most clubs that can usually assist with that information, but not always unfortunately. I'm not sure whether the MDL has a co-ordinator who could collect such details from EVERY club then post them on the BSPA site (A lot do go on there, as I myself provide the information). Obviously somebody has the answers, as Peter Oakes publishes them in his year book, so it's a mystery why the public don't get to see them as and when so to speak. Anyway, this topic should be under the junior section really, but I'm making hay whilst my PC wants to work. So in conclusion, you'd be better asking your clubs team managers about the situation, rather than me, I'm only a supporter like the rest of you. Good luck with that one anyway. rhidassa: Yes you are correct, if people produce their entrance ticket from Wednesday night, they will receive a free programme tonight. It's a beautiful day again in Norfolk, so hope to see a LOT of you at the Norfolk Arena tonight, for what I'm sure is going to be a great and entertaining season for the Young Stars. Incidentally, I've been asked to point out that the Track Shop has got quite a wide selection of Young Stars merchandise this year, unlike previous years when it's been mainly the 'Stars' bits 'n bobs on sale. Roger Airey if you're reading this, yes I will be there tonight, and I will endeavour to get the programmes you require. See you all at 7.30pm.
  18. The Lightning try again this evening to stage their KOC fixture against the MK Knights following the abandonment on the 10th April, following an accident in Heat 4. The teams line up as thus: King's Lynn: - 1) Andy Mountain 2) Connor Mountain 3) Lewis Rose 4) Josh Bailey Milton Keynes: - 1) Conor Dwyer 2) Arron Morgridge 3) Sam Woods 4) Danno Verge
  19. He had engine problems in his first race, and was unable to sort the problem.
  20. I've had quite a few people say to me recently that they are finding it more and more difficult to obtain certain bits of speedway news, especially regarding some of the junior meetings, now that we live in a world of Twitter and Facebook. Not everybody has the ability, especially some of the older people, to understand how to operate those particular facilities, and rely purely on clubs websites or the BSF for their news. Although I pick up bits 'n pieces from the aforementioned services, I must agree that the in depth service isn't as good as posting the easier to read details on the BSF or club website, although I always do manage to locate any information that I might want, he even though it can be very time consuming in doing so. My own club for instance, are in the Midland Development League, and receive excellent advertising on Facebook, but sadly for those that can't use that service, miss out, as publicity isn't given in the other outlets. Other than Twitters or Facebook users, I wonder how many people know that there is a KOC match taking place this evening between King's Lynn and Milton Keynes. Without Twitter, how many people knew that Luke Ruddick was injured at Northside on Sunday. Okay, I know some bright spark will say "Who really cares", but equally so, there will be those that do care, and like to be kept abreast of what's happening on our junior scene. My reason for making this particular post, is because my ears are hearing more and more comments about the situation, and I just wondered if it's something that bothers people in a far larger area rather than just my small domain. It would be good to hear other peoples views, even if you don't agree. All I would ask is that you don't insult the intellect of some of the more senior members who are bound to read this posting, just because they don't really understand how to use Twitter and or Facebook.

I agree with all comments, especially Lioness. We have to move with the times (i.e. Twitter & Facebook), but we must also stop and consider older people, who don't understand that sort of communication. It's a proven fact that the older you get, the less your brain can learn and remember, and when is all said and done, there is still one hell of a lot of aging people out there, supporting their respective clubs, as they have been doing for the past thirty, forty or fifty years or more. I've been a non-stop attender EVERY WEEK (holidays apart) for the past 55-years now, and whilst I do follow things to an extent on Facebook, I can't really get my head round Twitter. My hobbies mainly involve statistics (yes I guess those sort too ) so my brain is very active, yet I struggle at times with as I said Facebook and definitely Twitter, and if an active brain such as mine struggles, what chance have those that don't involve themselves in such things. At the moment it feels like Facebook & Twitter are for those that go to work, who demand to be kept informed, whilst things like Forums are for the old folk in Residential/Rest Homes, who get forgotten about. So come on promoters, press officers or whoever, don't just think of the younger generation supporting your clubs at this moment, think also of those people that have supported and kept you in business throughout the years, keep them informed too..........PLEASE.

Mildenhall Vs Coventry Sunday 28 April

As a complete neutral regarding both teams, this meeting had just about everything, and it's just a shame one team had to lose. It proved to me, as if I didn't already know anyway, what a lot of outstanding young British talent there is on the scene at the moment, and I just hope that one day, the way to move up is made easier for them, which it is slowly. Josh Bates for Mildenhall is coming on a bomb, and I was pleasantly surprised with young Martin Knuckey for Coventry too. Apart from the odd one or two over excited Fen Tigers fans around me (I think the ale was doing a lot of the talking), supporters from both teams seemed to enjoy the efforts put in by not only their own clubs, but those of their rivals, which is nice to see, and how it should be. I don't know what the official attendance figures were, but it looked far higher than what Rye House get in the Premier League, so the management are obviously doing something right at West Row, and long may it continue. Hope that Stefan Nielsen is okay after his terrifying coming together with Robert Branford at the conclusion of Heat 15. I know the Fen Tigers fans gave the British U21 Champion a lot of stick on the first/second bend, but to me it was nothing more than a last bend to tapes finish by two comitted riders, giving it there all. Nothing dirty or dishonest, just true good competitve racing. Good luck to both clubs for the remainder of the season, and no one will be more delighted than me, if you finish the campaign in second and third places respectively behind ...............KIng's Lynn Happy Days.
  24. I'm surprised that nobody has even given this meeting a mention yet, with it being only just over 24-hours away. Is anybody else going, or am I the only one? Must say I'm looking forward to this one, as it's quite a while since I last saw Glasgow ride, and although they're not the strongest side around, there's enough young talent and experience in the side, to make it an interesting fixture. Weather forecast is good, so all would seem rosy in the garden so to speak.
