They deserve to see fans stopping watching if they don't spend time on important decisions.

Unbelievable!!

All they had to do was used the draft riders EL averages and return to the old format. They could have said that draft riders started in reserve regardless of average anyway so wouldn't have been an issue. But no, they didn't and everything become a massive farce.

Quite a few on here got it straight away the problems were so obvious.

Whilst it would be wrong to call all promoters clueless, clearly a majority are!

The fact that Carl Wilkinson is an Elite League second string says it all.

They get everything bloody wrong and I have it on good authority from somewhere who was there the point about EDR,s moving to heat leader roles and vice versa was raised and discussed.

The simple and common sense answer is to immediately change to the PL race format, it will then level out and produce averages that EVERYONE can understand and work with.

Just out of interest who thought the EL race format up anyway.

There's discussed & disgust, perhaps Chinese whispers. It's obvious if they discussed it, they didn't see the pitfalls. Further more at least the tier 1 EDR riders should have been in their EL av's order for the pick at the AGM, the grading was a joke!

Well, that wouldn't have benefitted a certain team so was definitely a non-starter.

No they knew the risks apparently just clearly didn't think it would happen.

I do wonder if it's only supporters, the referee and the odd team manager who actually take a proper overview of matches and how the formats work.

After all, the promoter's taking care of the business on the day/night, sorting the cash out, topping it up if necessary, the riders are far too involved in their racing, and the team manager's tactical requirements amount to one tactical ride and when to use a reserve so he's more likely to be dealing with the riders. He'll be keeping an eye on the score but he can't necessarily take in the full nuances.

So it's left to those who have the time to follow the meeting properly - the spectators to see how formats actually play out. The referees will as well but obviously they're not going to speak out publicly.

I'm obviously not saying that overall the fan knows best - there are many key aspects of meetings that we're not privy to, but there are some aspects where we are the only ones who aren't too busy to actually see the results of these rush decisions or are defending them afterwards to cover our backsides.

Someone said they couldn't understand the fuss over reserves moving up - the reserves he knew weren't bothered. I wonder how they feel after a few meetings of facing up to three heat-leaders a race rather than fellow FTRs and the odd second string?

It's fascinating to hear the promotion of reserves was a last-minute suggestion. I wonder who made the suggestion and was the timing quite deliberate?

And if you do question it (and turn out to be right!) you're called thick, biased or both by one of the senior guys at the BSPA. For that reason the sport will never stop trundling on from crisis to crisis.

If you have problems seeing the bigger picture then you tend to resent those that do.

The mantra at the BSPA has always been "If you haven't got money to throw away, shut up."

I'm not sure how riders will progress in this sport unless they are givien a greater challenge

The current format is flawed however
