Speedwaycrazy this is Lakeside we are talking about so whilst we can all have the intrigue, be prepared for an anti climax, its what the club does all too often.

There might be grounds for a tiny amount of optimism that this will go ahead (I should say that that's probably the kiss of death )

Pretty much every forecast says the heavy stuff will come in around lunchtime but then there are mixed predictions, although most say that there will only be light rain after about 3pm, stopping altogether between 4 &5. Certainly the biblical downpours indicated last night to start about 3am didn't turn up here in Brentwood (about 8 miles away).

Lakeside have said they are making plans to combat any bad weather and there's no doubt that they will do everything they can to get the meeting on.

I hope really hope that the play offs aren't decided by the weather.

I think the Robins can get the point tonight i am very worried about our reserves though.Just hope Nick is on it if we don't make it good luck to Lakeside in the play/offs.Was thinking if we don't make it tonight and Doyley maybe??goes on to be WC there is no home meeting for him to celebrate in front of his home fans.

Change in Lakeside's riding order due to new averages:-

Nicholls , Bridger, Kennett, Lawson, Nillson, Morely, Kerr.

Swindon stay the same

Doyle, Sedgmen, Tungate, Graj, Morris, Wright , Neilson .

Whoever loses is going to kick themselves for throwing away silly points throughout the season.

Same as the EL championship winning season then. We win the league at Poole in October, but don't see the trophy until the following March.

At 09:10 the BBC weather says heavy rain until 4pm, then light rain to 6pm. Has the Lakeside promotion gone and got some track covers? Surely if this is the case it would make people more confident about traveling and they should be saying so. If so the meeting may well go ahead. But without track covers this meeting is a definite no goer I fear.

If by some miracle it does go ahead and there aren't any track covers why do we call meetings off?

As a previous post has stated they've only had to run 14 home league fixtures. Diabolical really when you think of all those blank Friday nights.

And if I remember correctly certain riders in the winning team were not invited or able to attend a celebratory meeting, shocking.

Completely agree.

How much does it cost to say what they are doing ?

There's a preview on the Lakeside website and it doesn't even mention the weather.

I should say that Met Office (who give the BBC their reports) have changed their prediction twice already this morning. Now they say no rain until 11.00am, when it will be showers.

XC Weather say rain until 4pm.

Can't we do a Poole and fit in former GP reserve Jurica Pavlic (lakeside track specialist) for the final meeting? There surely must be a small loophole somewhere? ;)

If we'd had an injury we could have, and I believe his average is only about 5 something.

It's amazing that despite the changes in personnel Lakeside teams don't like wet tracks

So look at the lineups and decide which riders are more likely to be up for it.

The website said a couple of days ago there are plans to deal with the weather. The forecast has been changing every few hours for the last few days. Do you expect a bulletin everytime the weather forecast changes ?

I am presently about 15 miles North of the track. I took the dog for a walk at 7.30 this morning and the ground in the woods was rock hard so there has obviously not been much rain overnight, we have had a shower an hour or so ago and the roads are drying out now,

What people overlook is that for everyminute covers are down there is no track prep going on. If the weather at the track is like it is round here I would guess Gerald is getting on with the track prep while he can rather than sitting around staring at track covers.

The problem is different forecasts are saying different things right now, The track staff just have to do the best they can when they can to have things ready.
