Another case of Poole to win/ survive at any cost. As long as you get what you want, then that's fine.. What about the home fans , don't they deserve to get their monies worth and see a visiting team with a their "proper" 1-7.

Its Steve Shovlar..............he trolls to get reaction by saying the complete opposite to anyone else

Because i cant get to go to many meetings i pick and choose who i want to go and see.....................i certainly wouldnt have chose to go see Ipswich v Peterborough last season for example.

You will get die hard fans who can go every week no matter what the opposition

You will then get fans like myself who cant make every week and others who simply cant afford to..........these people will cherry pick there meetings..........unless Poole fans prefer the away side to be very weak thus meaning they can cheer every race the 5-1 or the 4-2 they are likely to get...........

I guess Shovlar wants a very strong home team v a weakened away team so that Poole can be victorious...........well unless all Poole fans think the same then that will be an issue for the club...

For me I am more likely to go vs a local rival (this year Swindon, next season Eastbourne and Somerset) or if the away team has a few riders I like or close in form/ability.

Exactly my point

I know you have to pick and choose your meetings like i do.............so why spend your hard earned money going to watch a strong Poole1-7 v a weakened away team.....you wouldnt......but thats what Shovlar wants

Gavan

You're just as bad as steve at times as you've taken his comment and reworded it to a way in which you can pick him to bits

He said it's more important to the home team to have a regular 1-7 which is true, 99% of the crowd will be the home crowd wanting to watch their 7

If the away side has two guests then it's not the end of the world to the home side if you are wanting to cheer on your home teams 1-7

He didn't even suggest that he wants to see poole beat weakened teams 5-1 each race, you should know more than most that sometimes with away guests you end up stronger than usual as you can guest in track specialists.

What that does however is make a mockery of the sport and league table I'll agree with that, as it's your oppositions riders who have helped a rival club gain league position...  cant see aguero banging in 30 goals for tottenham to help them finish top 4 then getting his Title winning medal for City

Any club in any league wants a strong home team with strong home performances and anyone that says not is in cloud cuckoo land!

Its what pays the bills, attracts sponsors and fans - given the right local media support - and helps make the club successful. Notice I say 'club' rather than 'team'.

Ideally the home meetings will be close as far as the final score is concerned but as we all know there can be successive 5-1s or 4-2s by either side which doesnt guarantee good entertaining racing any more than a succession of 3-3s. A home win and a consistent 1-7 will at least ensure that the majority of regular fans will keep returning - even some of the lapsed ones.

To be fair, its not a 'Poole thing'....

For what seems like 'forever' away teams have arrived with guests...

Often having agreed to a meeting knowing full well that their 'star rider' will be missing as required elsewhere, as lets be honest, their crowd wont be impacted by his absence.

Or. They agreed to the meeting knowing they could bring in a couple of ringer track specialists to replace their known missing riders who might not be as good at that particular track..

Surprising how many times 'star riders' are always available for home meetings though...

Given the reputation of the team competitions in the UK, it doesn't really matter who makes up the septets, so just ride under the banner of the two teams on the best nights you can get a crowd in...

And as has been said, ensure your home side is strong so fans (who are obviously ok with contrived septets) can at least keep the faith that their team has a chance of winning their home meetings, thus will keep attending...

And if you ride on the nights that traditionally brought you your best crowds, then you have more chance of getting those all important 'fans who used to be regulars', to attend more often than maybe they currently do now. .

Much easier to bring them back into the speedway fold than attract newbies I would suggest..

If Gavan doesn’t have the intellect to understand my post, then he really has proved himself to be a complete And utter numpty.

Your are obviously the sort of person that would rather see your team thrash another and not worry about what the racing is like.

Its important that BOTH teams field the same 1-7 kind of adds credability

Or are all Poole fans the same as you where all you care about is winning

NO we are NOT all the same as the 'Poole mouth'  :nono:

One thing that stopped me getting a season ticket at Birmingham was that atrocious injury hit season they endured.  2008 I think, the team were so entertaining with Legault & Roynon but neither of them (& a few other riders) could stay fit. So it was Jason Lyons, Craig Watson, Lee Smart, three guests and R/R seemingly every week from  then on.

If there is any truth in this, then it clearly shows the unprofessionalism of CVS.

The individual clubs should make the announcements when they feel it's appropriate. If he has leaked confidential information it shows a complete disregard to his fellow promoters.

Berwick make it perfectly clear in this week's Star that they are planning for the Championship in 2020 - unless they have new owners, which is unlikely.

They need to stay in the same league as Newcastle Edinburgh and Glasgow as they are their local rivals with the biggest travelling supporters especially Glasgow.
