  4. I don’t think even speedway futures know what they are doing
  5. Great post . Your views make total sense. We all know the speedway fan base is a rapidly ageing one and to attract younger ones to the sport , they would need to feel an attachment to the team that they are watching. That they identify with the riders in their team , the same riders week in week out and choose their favourites. In return those riders will feel the attachment to the club also, rather than riding for two or three teams ( if a guest) . Things need to be professional in that sense and not the free for all that has ruined our sport.
  6. The whole of speedway is top secret, the less us plebs know the better as far as the bspl is concerned, speedway futures are like the SAS, working undercover, nobody knows what they are doing
  7. All I can say is the secret must be water tight, in most organisations there is usually a mole somewhere.
  8. Logistically it isn't an issue. Especially if you are a rider wanting to line your pockets without the inconvenience of having to be good enough to be asked to ride in Poland. The problem is deeper than that though. Starting with it causing the disconnect between fans and the riders who race for their team. Ideally riders should have one club, having another club overseas is borderline acceptable. Ideally that wouldn't happen either. A lot of top tier riders have ended up with second tier clubs due to a relaxation of rules (doubling up numbers allowed and average conversion rate) 15 odd years ago. They've then hogged the team spots and stopped other riders from racing at second tier level and thus reaching a competitive standard. That is directly to blame for the lack of good enough riders now. To top it all off, most of them are now in their mid thirties plus and when they retire, which they'll have to some day sooner rather than later, leave a massive void in both leagues. These things hurt Speedway's credibility. As does guesting, which isn't a necessary evil, it's just an evil. It makes the sport look amateurish in the extreme to Speedway fans, let alone someone who may be a newcomer to the sport. The sport has to look credible to keep teams active, to help new/returning teams get back on track, to try secure another television deal and ultimately to draw in new fans. All these things that look stupid to outsiders (because they are stupid) need to be removed from the sport. For the good of the sport.
  9. Ray Morton, I'm sure that's what Dave Lanning used to call him at Wimbledon.
  10. Today
  11. Wouldn't worry about Team Buillding, Fair share of good riders still available due to the Points Limit.
  12. Development needs to go into overdrive from this season, never mind 2027, to cover the potential impact Poland may have with their "one extra league" rules, and the amount of DU's who are much nearer the ends of their careers than the start... I remember the SJL with, I think, three rider teams racing over six heats. . Maybe after every four heats of every meeting they could run two heats of this level of racing? Four heats, then two heats of NDL level riders, then the track grade for the main meeting to carry on... The NDL level meeting would be completed after heat 12, and running them every four heats would mean the track had slickened off, but still would have some grip, rather than them racing on a fresh, grippy track which may test their capability, or a track, post main meeting, bereft of any grip at all.. Extra races for the punters too, and it may unearth an "I was there" gem... It would be very much an expenses only opportunity for the riders... The clubs have all said they are committed to development, well, they ALL need to show it, rather than only a few doing anything.. The 8% reduction per year missed could bring some riders back, however the hole needing to be filled over the next few seasons isn't going to be small..
  13. Surely the Premiership can’t survive for another 2 years.
  14. Lots of the young Aussies interviewed by BSN during the Australian Championship last week said that they wanted to come over to the uk. Actually saying "call me"
  15. You would have thought so or your in the position Tolley ended up in 2025 where your laying out top dollar for average riders on ever decreasing crowds and that's before you factor in your a nomad team on someone else's track or trying to build a brand in a town/city with no previous speedway following. If there is someone genuinely interested the sensible thing would be to park it and plan for 2027 with a view to helping them but given this is british speedway if they find someone who doesn't know any better they will be rushed in and then served up the scraps.
  16. I think the 37 point limit, with 6 teams all confirmed by early November, would have resulted in a competitive league with no lame ducks. As it is, some riders made early decisions to secure contracts elsewhere, which would now make 6 equal strength teams difficult to achieve. Once Belle Vue confirm Kurtz i think we can wave goodbye to there being a 6th team this year
  17. Exactly that. Guests are the 'necessary evil' of the sport. Immediate change for me is that a guest can only be from other league/s. Even if you lose the No1, the guest comes in on their own converted average and those with a higher average move up a position. For me, it's not a difficult fix. Also, that would hurry up teams to find replacements (temporary or permanent) rather than constantly using 'track specialists' guests.
  18. Well that’s another issue. If Ipswich are currently picking the bones out of the scraps left already, god help a potential sixth team. That’s why all those moaning at a lack of variety with only having five teams, need to understand that a top league only suits five clubs because of the lack of available riders of a certain pedigree! We had a seven team league in 2025, but let’s be brutally honest here, only five of them were competitive. Is it really worth adding more teams, if they’re just going to be cannon fodder like Oxford and Birmingham were last year?
  19. The new lot seem well funded so hopefully will get one top line rider on board, I just hope they don't make the same mistake as the fella who took over Rye House and put a load of riders on huge guarantees and then went bust at the end of the season.
  20. Wondered by your actions whether you was a kid how you act. But was gobsmacked to find out you are a 32 year old man, childish at that.
  21. With Northampton having the remaining scraps of the bones if they turn up.
  22. His big brother is letting stay there.
