Ipswich Witches 2026

I’d put Nicholls in over Tungate. Scott is still awesome around Foxhall & would out score Tungate comfortably at home. May not be so good away but you’d get more out of Nicholls over a season than Tungate. Also no concern if he will turn up or not. -

Doesn't have a massive hitter but it looks rock solid. 1. T. Brennan 7.05 2. R. Tungate 5.89 3. R. Lawson 6.81 4. D. King 6.50 or N. Klindt 6.46 5. T. Musielak 6.63 6. J. Thorssell 4.50 7. J. Edwards (RS) = 36.98 / 36.94

Completely ignoring the fact that out of the 8 they lost their opponents scored 50+ points on 6 occasions. Compare that with 2 for Sheffield, 3 for Ipswich, and 4 for Leicester. Hence the reason I mentioned the need for huge home wins to pick up many aggregate bonus points. Belle Vue had the best home record in the league last season but finished 4th in the table, 5/6 points behind the other 3. Away form was their downfall and with 3 of those 4 riders returning this year it could be the same again this season. -
If Thorssell is a 4.50 then Jenkins has to be released imo....Even though I like the lad. That's a ridiculous reduction for Jacob when his last GSA was 7.33.

Ryan Ingram and Max Perry next 2 looking strong https://www.leicesterspeedway.com

Could be an absolute steal on that average was developing into a possible future gp rider last time he rode in the UK but a really bad crash set him back and then from memory he didn't return to the UK, if Northampton do run assuming they can't get a number one he is exactly the kind of rider they will need on a false average to make sure they win most of their home meetings. Maybe Nigel has a brother who will be underwriting the anticipated losses for the coming season.

Belle Vue had a woeful league campaign last season with a paltry 4 away wins. They need to aspire to powerhouse away teams like Sheffield & Ipswich who won an impressive 5 each. -
Would someone like Rasmus Jensen be re assessed down as well? And Timo Lahti

If Northampton is a starter,, not only do they need to find some fans,, the need to make a decent race track to keep those going and enticing others to give it a look,, and looking at the shape of the tarmac track as it is,, that doesn't look at all good for a decent speedway race -
4.50 looks like just

My prediction… Bomber to ride for every team at least once during the season. The sport’s credibility will be upheld however due to careful fixture planning to make sure that he does not roll up to the tapes for a race and look across to see himself representing the opposition. I have total faith in the BSPA for the forthcoming season and trust that clubs have plans in place to cope with inevitable crowd level surges based on the exciting future of the sport pitched by the BSPA at the end of last season. Just hope I’m quick enough to get my season ticket (when they are released) before they sell out. Sarcastic?…..Moi?…… -

Not sure about Belle Vue at number 1. They couldn't buy a win away from home last season due to the top heavy team building, and with the same leading pair and a lower average to work to I can't see this year being any different. Probably go pretty much unbeaten at home, but will need to rack up some huge home scores if they want many bonus points. -
He is a team player as well. None of this riding off into the sunset and letting his partner fend for themselves. The effort he puts in to support every rider in the team both on and off track is second to none. He will increase the average of any rider in his team that is happy to listen to his advice.

John will be turning in his grave at the way CL has handled this. Another opportunity to use the local media to the Witches advantage lost. What has become of Ipswich Speedway that for so long has been a big part of Suffolk sport with a rich heritage of home grown riders and a management team who were true Suffolk folk. Yes things move on and new blood is needed to take the sport forward but the link between local home grown riders and local folk is now gone. Another chapter but hopefully not the final one. A question mark sits against Mayfield as to whether they have understood on the broader picture what they are/have bought into given the inept promotional structure and the lack of vision by too many self interested parties who have spent too many years failing to deal with the here and now. The corporate philosophy of Mayfield may well be the down fall of the league in the UK. Time will tell and we can only hope that they can overcome the obstacles and influence the future direction of the sport otherwise it is curtains.

The obvious solution to rider averages for this season would have been to combine NDL and NDT averages from 2025. Not rocket science to do.
-
Simpson is an anomaly really on an extremely high average. Mainly due to him riding such few NL meetings, before not riding again last season. But fair play to KL for giving Simpson a team place. He’s clearly the type of rider the NL is designed for, but he must’ve been worried at that average.
-
I gather Jacob would be re-assessed as a 6.00???
