What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

Jordan poisoned Eastbourne , the wretch. Also the circumstances are now different too before. Lovely thought tho . -
Just to add some clarity to the article, because the coverage doesn’t really reflect what was actually said. Forever Panthers haven’t “given up” on the Showground or accepted that Speedway has no future there. The company simply reported that the current landowner has indicated they don’t plan to reopen the site for events — but that is not the final word, and it’s certainly not the end of the conversation. The important point missing from the article is this: 👉 Speedway and the Showground remain protected under national and local planning policies. This isn’t something that can just be ignored or written off. Forever Panthers are still actively exploring all options, including those policy protections, and they’re engaging with the council, partners and the wider community. That’s the reality behind the press release. So while “looking for a new home” makes a neat headline, it leaves out the actual context: the fight isn’t over, the policy protections still exist, and the Showground hasn’t suddenly become an impossible venue. Fans should stay encouraged — the release was positive, measured and focused on solutions, even if the reporting didn’t quite capture that. Just to be clear, the press release and the coverage aren’t quite aligned. Anyone familiar with Speedway — including people like Peter Oakes, who understands both the club and the sport (and I’m pretty sure that Paul Grinnell was named on the first copy) — would know that the situation is more nuanced than “Panthers looking for a new home.” The intention was to update supporters honestly without closing the door on the Showground, especially given the planning policy protections that still apply.

Would you blame them? they got done by Ian Jordan for a lot of money and speedway is not a great business model these days. Arlington stadium has been in existence since 1928, it has been updated over the years but is a money pit. I don't know but they must make a bit with the stocks, why go through the aggravation of allowing a promotion to run speedway with another risk? They are first and foremost, a business family. -

What reason is given though? It seems strange knowing how much Bob loved the speedway that it’s just a straight no? - Today

More Paul Dugard who is a director of the stadium and represents Margaret, Bobs widow who owns the stadium along with Eric. -
I'm assuming it'll just be comments on the last few seasons... as clearly nobody is allowed to comment on the future 🤷♂️

Great track but it was bad enough spotting fans at Brum last year can you imagine what 700-800 turning up in a place that can hold 40 thou would look like. -
Hard to think what can be added to the statement unless the interviewer has some demon questions up his sleeve (and they get broadcast)

The last paragraph 😂 clearly your source isn’t in the know!

Poole 2026
old bob at herne bay replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You don’t really do reading well in your haste to condemn anything and everything about Poole. Look 5 posts back from yours and you have your answer. With uncertainly surrounding the Premiership, many doubling up riders have looked to sign for a European team to try to safeguard their earnings. >>>>>>Nothing against Poole ... think they are a well run club .... Matt Ford is a good businessman who knows how to make money. Just struck me as pretty silly for any rider to sign for teams who both ride their fixtures on Wednesdays. Poole ride home fixures ONLY on a Wednesday ( unless absolutelty no other options) and all Danish league fixtures are on a Wednesday. Don't really care whehter Dickie Lawson rides for timbuctoo in the Championship on a Wednesday .... Lets hope Tim Lahti isn't injured and Lawson has a choice to make ??? Seems Charlie Rushen is also rumoured to be signing for a Danish side too .... although he's probably haggling over money with Oxford and Poole ...... so the Wednesday fixture clash might not arise. -

Would that be a Odsal? Know Godfrey looked at it and it would seemingly pass for UK league racing (wouldn’t be FIM approved though like pre 1997) providing the metal work for the exec box structure gets the required safety install. Would get a war of the roses derby and a white rose derby and good Road connections to M62/M1 -

MMMmm ... but all making a loss or barely scraping even if we believe what we are told ? With no TV sponsorship must make the viability of running in 2026 questioable ? They do it for the love of the sport. -

I’m not sure if there’s any news on when the next announcement will be? The next 3 are the interesting 3, Lawson Cairns were always coming back. Kerr was almost always coming back, and we all knew Bowes was in his way. Hoping the next one is Rushen putting those Oxford rumours to bed

i think Eric is the stumbling block -
Glasgow aren’t just being smart business wise for their own benefit either, losing them would affect all the northern clubs. Glasgow bring a big following to Berwick for sure and I’m sure they take it to the other northern venues too, they’d also lose virtually all the away support they get at Ashfield. It would be a lose lose situation for those with the most at stake. There is nothing “brave” about what the teams in the Premiership are doing, it’s business suicide for most, you just need to look at recent history.
