  1. Past hour
  2. Just 2 more sleeps until all is out in the open (Perhaps 3 if you like an afternoon nap too)
  3. You’re correct, I remember it now (for all the wrong reasons) My mate a lapsed Speedway supporter and Ipswich fan attended with me, we had gone to Peterborough a few times as the most local track to us. I thought the day experience was poor, and after the event was crap too, this on top of that s*it show. My team is Rye House, I went to various meetings in the hope of good racing/meeting with no emotional attachment as Rye had gone. 👍🏻
  4. When Mayfield announce the Team, It's going to be the most crucial Team announcement that they'll ever do imo because it will set the precedent for the new era.
  5. Way more than scunny have to play with. 😂
  6. That was the year Bewley won when it was more like a super cross track, I went to Odsal in 85 and 1990 brilliant atmospheres both times with the tribal nature needed and some superb racing but the days of getting 45-50k in for World finals in the UK also seem gone forever.
  7. that comment was for a few people on here who because we say what we are seeing, they are classing that as hating British speedway , they have lost the plot.
  8. I would like to say this is no longer a devopment league but thats fair enough fans pay the wages and bums on seats make the difference . Good luck to all the oldies and championship and preniership riders who are given spots they have worked hard to ride their bikes and im sure the league and racing will be top qualatie And i mean that sincerly
  9. I do not think it is just the Ipswich crew. Riders, mechanics etc talk either directly or using one of the electronic methods of communication yet not a murmur from anyone in the league. Perhaps all are under the threat of the sword of Damocles if anyone utters a word? Someone somewhere has some sway if that is the case. Maybe the season’s sponsors are lead by Don Corleone. All very unusual perhaps it needs a good detective to take a look. I would call in Kojak or Colombo, no point in those modern day detectives, Poirot or Morse. Maybe the answers will be forthcoming tomorrow.
  10. Today
  11. To be fair owens beat mark a cany bit over the last few years liam has only ever beat owen once . Owen had the higest average in njl from a non ndl rider until last two meeting when it went ** up. Think laylen had only beat owen in one meeting. Its hard for owen to devlop when he doesnt get a chance. But im always going to say that cos im baised Lots of love mate Paul
  12. Is that why you, Oxford and Leicester forced the points limit which was going to be 40 up to 42 or you were going to pull out unless you got it your way. If it was 40 you’d of probably been okay with Just Jake. So let’s not go down that route, job for the boys with Simon let’s not kid on it’s not.
  13. Yes to all of the above, many Sports have lost characters and have adapted accordingly, Speedway obviously suffers because it’s expensive to get in to, it’s reliant on the weather and the model of the Sport imo no longer works, especially for a modern audience, new sports have sprung up since the time we were kids, see examples in the Winter Olympics for an obvious example and the emergence of Women’s sports. Many of these newer sports are niche/minority but they are slick and professionally presented, yet look at the enthusiastic crowds. We have had GP’s in ready made stadia, that were established and served up dross, the Cardiff GP (I forget the year, but myself and a mate went) it was appalling, and still people defended it. We can’t keep looking back, if you can’t market a team sport, that is fast, dangerous and colourful and in which a race lasts 60 secs, which is about the average concentration level of a modern day person (tongue firmly in cheek) and you have multiple Social Media platforms to do this (Insta, X, BlueSky, YT, Reddit, Mastadon, FB etc) oh and David Howe’s daughter then what hope has the sport got?!
  14. Spot on its getting harder and harder for the sport to survive when I used to go mid 80's to early 90's if a track was in trouble there were normally 4-5 interested parties in taking over. They would then survive 2-5 years on average loose a bundle then rinse and repeat, but these days there's maybe one-two interested parties or none. It also frustrates me that when the Sky money came in the top riders seem to have hoovered up 90% of it then left for Poland as soon as the trough was empty, now I get they could suffer horrible injuries tin any race and need to maximise earnings but part of me also thinks you were fed well when the big money was sloshing around maybe a bit of loyalty to the UK was warranted. As you say the only way I see out is someone with tens of millions coming in buying up 15-20 tracks/stadiums then franchising out to promoters with the big dog making the rules , two leagues of eight with promotion and relegation. I don't think there's any speedway haters on here just fans who love the sport and are heart broken how its now on life support I bang on about it but the last four heats of the last world team cup show how good it can be when every team was in contention down to the last four heats and Magic took Rob Lambert from the back on the last lap to win it for Poland. We were also spoilt back in the day for riders who were magicians on bikes like Kelly Moran, Henka, Jan O Pederson, Loram, John Cook , T Rick etc there just don't seem as many of that type of rider around today or maybe its just down to rocket ship bikes.
  15. I can't remember which way round but electro pulse is either a massaging vibrator or a vibrating massager ....
  16. We know a team manager is in place and I’m led to believe that the full team of riders is now in place also. And yet nothing has leaked on either which is quite unusual. Relatives, mechanics, sponsors, friends, there’s usually loose lips everywhere and it usually ends up on here one way or another before the official confirmations but in Ipswich’ case, nada.
  17. But Sam played a blinder at Reading back in the day when he wasn't even team manager he was paid a fortune in a consultant like role and that was twenty plus years ago.
  18. AH. Once he marries Hayley he’ll have that Passport 😂
  19. Glad it worked out OK, Dean I would have been outside with a stall, looking at the weather, looks like I made the right decision, spoke to a couple of stall holders, the ones inside all said they did all right, the ones outside, some did not get everything out of the van, and all packed up early, apparently the outdoor autojumble was a poor show on the second day. I will support the Ledbury grass track autojumble on the 8th March though
  20. My post is nothing to do with Simon I think that's a good idea
  21. Or arry .? Lemon did show his face on Saturday, shame he couldn’t be bothered to bring his new beloved company along
  22. Simon Lambert hasn’t stopped these riders from riding. I contacted Mark Parker back on January 18th and he told me he doesn’t want to ride in 2026. I already have my 2 reserves in Kenzie COSSEY and Ollie BINNS, who are both making their first full season debuts in the NDL and BOTH are British riders and always lived in the UK. You’ll have to ask the northern based clubs why they haven’t given team places to Liam Greens, Laylen Richardson, Owen Booth and Billy Budd. Maybe Greens didn’t want a team spot? I know he’s always busy helping the Pijper brothers these days. With respect to Booth and Richardson, they are not yet ready for NDL racing. That’s not saying they never will be, but they need to be winning races regularly in the NJL and Amateur meetings first, before clubs will look at giving them a start in a declared 1-7. Both great lads to deal with, but clubs look at things like this before they offer a regular team spot to riders coming through. Both are still young and have time yet to be knocking on the door for a regular team spot. Billy Budd impressed me last season when I seen him race a couple of times for the Colts at the back end of the season. Unfortunately I wasn’t in a position to offer him a team spot in the end.
  23. Are you trying to make us depressed. After all we have been spoilt for choice these last few seasons.
  24. Is that a threat? Rob will be trembling.....
