One multiple World Champion said to me that it's up to the Promoter if he wants to pay what i'm asking, nobody makes them, all they have to do is say no, they agreed, and the Club basically went broke.

Maybe an idea would be that before the season starts every rider that wants to guest during the coming season signs an agreement that he will guest for the fee agreed by the league if not he does not go on to the rider guest list, yes I know teams can still pay over the odds but perhaps when the said rider asks for more he should be removed from the list.

What went on in Manchester this week ?
-
But there is the point, why upset anyone at all even before you start just for the sake of changing it
-
I understand that change is difficult for some people and if it was a big club like Reading I would agree with you, however I don't remember being that many hardcore buxton fans, with most people wearing the colours of other clubs out for a Sunday afternoon jolly. Also with the goings on in Manchester this week, it's going to be the bulls.

GP line-up for 2026
SPEEDY69 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Exactly, can't always go by averages in one league! Would he have done it the following year, no but it created a lot of interest. Most GPs now are snore-fests with little unpredictability. -
Got to agree with this. Hitmen is one of the more original, better nicknames. Much better than the weak "just pick an alliterative animal or bird" nicknames. They should seriously have a rethink about this change. "BULLS HIT WITH POOR NICKNAME CHANGE"

It wasn’t so long ago that Ipswich and Sheffield were in the Championship ! And with Sheffield up for sale who’s to say the new owners could afford a Premier League. -

Not one of them is capable of trusting someone else, independent or not, to manage their finances or sporting affairs. Anyone who has had any nouse or enthusiasm for the bigger picture has historically been driven out of the BSPA/L even Phil Morris has capitulated and moved the goalposts two seasons in a row. We are following the Village Fete Committee and expecting them to run the Olympics- so, so sad. -
Problem in verifying the rider's nationality - part 1 (letter A, B)
Puma23 replied to Puma23's topic in Years Gone By
James Allan propably is scottish. He rode in Scottish Junior Championship '69. Saturday 11th October 1969 Albion Rovers Stadium, Coatbridge -
If all of the promoters actually agreed to adopt the “suggestion” as an “agreement” it would end the riders demanding more who will continue to do so simply because in the meantime some promoters will continue to pay more than the “suggestion”. Of course even if the suggestion was adopted as a rule the challenge would be to prevent the same promoters working around the agreement/rule in search of glory and ignoring the basics of cost control for the betterment of the sport rather than their own interests.

He had some good meetings Poole 1st time round was one of them, but 2nd time, did not score, also very very poor at Edinburgh, wasas if he hadn't rode a motorbike before, was that bad, Poole are welcome to him, seems to carry a lot of baggage in his head !!
