A really good first meeting of the season for me. Bewley looked a little sluggish early on (by his standards), but what a final! The track held up to the weather very well despite the earlier rain and there was some great, brave racing. Kurtz / Fricke and then Bewley / Holder were hard but fair with each other and the meeting got better the further it went. Credit to Chris Harris as well - never gives less than 100%.

Yes . When sandhu stood down from speedway. And offered the promotion for grabs. With the hundreds who were wanting to take it on and mick Horton got the nod. How surprising. It’s almost like he was the only one who was prepared to give it a go and without him spoedway would have been all over at Coventry

What an opportunity.... It would be like the Masked Singer... Seven riders, and, one by one... "Take it off! Take it off!"... Harry Redknapp and Linda Lusardi as the judges guessing the identities...

A decent (ish) crowd for a PCMT, and opening night, with the weather maybe knocking a fair few off the total, (hopefully they streamed it)... Some excellent close racing in several races, with Kurtz and Fricke showing great trust and ability to race each other so closely, and hard, at top speed... Kvech too, in heat 19 was brilliant riding around the first two turns. Not many ride that close to the fence, in the, by then, "deep stuff" and gain positions... A great final with Bewley and Holder both riding hard and fair.... All in all, a very decent start to the season, with all the GP riders having opportunities to show their higher level of capability... Roll on those two GP's...

Great!!! It would be super to see black leathers and proper racejackets again. 👍🙂

How true that is , when I took a quick glance at the post the name sent a shudder down my spine.😁

The Brafield team of the 1950's and 60's were called the Badgers. Given that Badgers are mostly seen dead on their ar$es they do share some other similarities with those who run British Speedway. They have very poor vision and they are creatures of habit who will follow the same paths for generations despite the dangers and do not adapt well to changes in their territory. Badgers would be ideal. All we need is a Bodger to manage the mashed potatoes.

For God's sake, don't mention Horton! They're still looking to name a figurehead promoter....

Spot on. Sums up why this venture has attracted so many negative comments from people that look at the bigger picture. We all want this to be a success but that doesn’t mean we can’t be realistic.

Imagine starting a completely new team in a new sport in a new venue. And just over a month to go. No team name no players signed. No website . Absolutely zero information . The people in the surrounding area who are the demographic who would form the support for the venture know absolutely nothing about the exciting new entertainment which will be coming to their doorstep in a matter of weeks. A completely ridiculous situation and only speedway. Could f:;k up an opportunity like it .even hardcore fans of speedway are completely in the dark about iit.

Speedway GP meeting reserves.
racers and royals replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I actually complained once to the FIM when one of the regular season 15 riders was excluded in his 1st race and injured never rode again and in the standings finished 17th scoring no GP points on the night, with 16th and 1 point given to a reserve who also scored 0 but didn’t have an exclusion - so beat him on countback !!! -
Speedway GP meeting reserves.

They will count in the standings- all GP points scored in every round count in the final World Championship totals. -
Please can you help me with the following question. In the unlikely event the either of the meeting reserves (no.17 & no.18) score enough points to qualify for the LCQF do their points count in the series standings? Or are they only shown in the Grand Prix round they were scored? By meeting reserves I mean those that come in for an exclusions etc and not the wildcard or standby riders.
