Jason Garrity? Average fits and Havvy was supposedly trying to help him make a comeback and get a team place?
-
Rolling averages are something that has come in since the last time I went to speedway and they do and don't make sense. They can reflect current form but not in their present sense. Unless I'm mistaken, a rolling average over 20 meetings - with the current lack of teams at the top level - could involve THREE seasons of racing, and cover scores from - for example - October 2024 to April 2026. Any rolling average which even counts meetings 6 months apart - as all do until the very end of the season, does not reflect CURRENT form. Six meetings is a far better barometer - too many to deliberately drop your average to gain an advantage but enough to gauge current form.

They have stated that things changed since speedway star went to print

Anyone with multiple aliases will be favourite coz they can keep on talking to each other, then again they wont be the last one standing with multiple aliases𤣠-
I think Beau would potentially deem himself too good for Championship next season? unless he does Chanpionship and the prem. Beau would be my first choice, then maybe Toby if 100%? Or a new rider is always exciting

Shame for Bowes, never like to see any rider get injured, but this is now an opportunity for Poole to replace their weakest rider, while maintaining their "morals" of not dropping a struggling rider! Gilkes replacing Bowes when he regained fitness would've been their best option, I always said it should be Gilkes vs Bowes for the team spot as Newman had done a good job when he came in. Now I think Lasse Fredriksen could be worth a shot, wasn't doing great at Berwick, but he'd ne at reserve for Poole, so could only expect his scores to improve. Tobias Thomsen would be my first pick if he's gonna be fot enough, could always wait for him to recover & use guests in the meantime? Think I'd prefer to keep Beau Bailey for 2027 (on a lower average) rather than him come in now & raise it up. Team should be good enough to win the double without him.

with the lack of fixtures nowadays id say 20 matches is too many.

Hurry said Doyle approached him at the Manchester Grand Prix about coming to Ipswich but it was non starter because weād have had to drop 3 riders to fit him back into our side which he wasnāt prepared to do -

They have longer than that, I believe the rules would let them use guests for the remainder of the season, not that I'd expect them to do that of course.
-
Wait till season ends and see if it can be implemented next season though.

Throw the chequebook at Beau Bailey time. I rate him above both Cairns and Rushden...

Shame for Bowes who tried to come back too early after injuring himself last winter, fell and hurt himself again, then tried to come back too early and was clearly in pain. Thereās a talent there but he hasnāt had a chance to show it. The best bet is time out to make a full recovery. Best of luck to the lad.

That shows why rolling averages are better. It shows the true form over a period of 20 matches. As any statistician will tell you, a larger sample gives a truer answer. Taking a sample of the last 20 matches smooths out any anomolies like a temporary run of bad form (or an attempt to manipulate averages by purposeful low scoring). The system works well. (Or at least as well as it can).
