  1. Past hour
  2. Friday night is my playing football night and I won't be interrupting this for the 2nd leg, I hope its a good meeting what we really need is Sheffield to come out in heat 1 with a 5-1 which might just give the Aces the jitters and the Tigers a bit of confidence. Its bright and sunny on the right side of the Pennines 😉 I fully expect the Aces to win and claim the trophy however.
  3. I think you're the one getting confused, not me. When you asked why I continued to argue, you were quoting my post to Gavan where I challenged his and dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's unsubstantiated opinion that the white line belonged to the infield but you go on about the SCB ruling. As others have pointed out though, the SCB statement may be a fact but it certainly lacks substance. Anyway, it would appear that I was correct about the white line. The SCB have amended the wording even though, in my opinion it was adequately defined previously as being on the track surface, which would make the inner side of the line the boundary and that is now confirmed.... No apologies necessary lads 😁 Having just received my Star this morning I see that it says "the white line is part of track, meaning a rider is still legally on the track as long as part of their rear tyre is in contact the line - however small that contact may be" It doesn't state a source for this ruling but if it's from the SCB we can consider it FACT! 🙂. It seems that one is now put to bed too so there's nothing more to argue about now regarding the actual rules, is there?
  4. Surely the only rider that fits that bill, outside of your regulars would be Jody Scott 😀
  5. Today
  6. We’ve done better than most, if not all this year. The Craven is always very well attended along with our first home team meeting. We’ve made good use of the bank holidays this season which has helped offset the effect of having two expensive FIM events in town. Add in our play off participation and we are looking at around 24k-26k attendance over the season. I don’t see any team massively over or under that figure and to scoff at someone else attendance is as ridiculous as it is pointless.
  7. It appears the SCB have conveniently amended the wording to the above rule to suit their statement. No further photo or video evidence has been stated to have been viewed or made available, and by amending the rule to the above wording the SCB admit they also couldn't distinguish whether or not Zach completely crossed the line with both wheels. The interview with Carrington in the speedway star is quite frank and I believe he made the correct decision with what was available to him at the time. The SCB have hung him out to dry.
  8. Hopefully it's a good event, I've always enjoyed it previously. Bit of a strange lineup, isn't it? There could be some strung out races.
  9. Doyle has just been announced at Vastervik for '27. Poland, Sweden and GB now he no longer has the GPs on his schedule?
  10. IS IT, funny that, im here now and it isnt and not had rain this morning, had a lot of rain over night mind you
  11. Except for supporting their team. Their attendances are crap generally.
  12. You’d have to be a very unlucky team for that to happen. 😱 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_British_League_season#British_League_Knockout_Cup
  13. Always good to read your insightful comments too. Always good for a giggle with your usual Belle Vue are the best at everything posts.
  14. For me, the actual credibility of what's on offer will always be the key issue that holds the sport back.. Jason Doyle and Max Fricke both played major roles in Sheffield qualifying, for Max, to the detriment of his own team who finished fifth, and if Sheffield win on aggregate tonight, then Jason will have assisted them to do so... You simply cannot take that seriously and invest yourself emotionally into it, therefore the play off qualifiers can be very much "take it or leave it" with a clear high number choosing to "leave it".. However, it can still be a very good night out, watching the racing when surrounded by a decent amount of people, hence the play off final in particular brings out those, like me, who don't have enough interest to attend throughout the season due to low crowd numbers, and the inevitable lack of atmosphere brought by them, and the lack of any feeling of real importance to a run of the mill meeting... As I say, if fhe promoters sorted the clear and obvious barriers to attending, then there wouldn't be such disproportionate crowds from qualifiers to finals...
  15. That’s one of the many problems with the play offs and one I went into chapter and verse when they first came into the sport. Once the perception is planted that a fixture is less important, fans will think twice about attending. The repetitive nature of fixtures doesn’t help though as it was back in the day, you can ride local teams many times over with little impact on the gate. This was evidenced by Glasgow and Edinburgh successfully meeting ten times recently. The ONLY benefit of the play offs is the gate money two teams get (four at a push) but it’s now robbing Peter to pay Paul as all we are doing is clawing back what’s been lacking in the qualifiers. The original reason for them may come back into play if a tv deal is forthcoming as the broadcaster absolutely demands to screen the deciding fixture.
  16. A reply well worth reading. I happen to think it would be good for the sport to have two people involved who are well versed in dealing with (one of the biggest) councils successfully enough to have a new dedicated speedway stadium in a built up area near to the city centre. By all means though, keep posting your insightful comments.
  17. To be fair the alternative is for to come out and say "we are utterly fooked, abandon ship, everyman for himself" but as you say bar losing Kurtz and Doyle to injury in the first four heats it should be a shoe in result.
