  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah, but whoever makes the best start almost always wins…….ah but with speedway……… enjoy your speed skating!
  3. Personally I think BSN have the finger on the pulse regarding how much punters would pay, I'm expecting a similar price for full 40 ish championship meetings like last year and probably around 25 is premiership meetings
  4. Speed skating is everything Speedway should be. I ❤️ it, just watched a great final.
  5. Peter Turle is credited with riding one match for Rye House at Weymouth in 1984. A previous post on here from 2008 reckoned he was a south coast based junior borrowed by the Rockets as #8. However I have a programme from 20th May 1984 Poole v Swindon Juniors that has a Paul Terle (note spelling) riding in the second half. I also have a programme from 17th June Poole v Exeter Juniors that has a Paul Turle riding at #6 for Exeter. In both instances the name has been written in and not printed in the programme. Both are marked to a high standard, indeed the Swindon one may be a ref's copy as it is signed. Just to throw a further spanner into the works, I have a programme from 8th October at Exeter with a Wessex Junior league match v Poole who have a Paul Turtle listed in their team. The programme isn't marked though. Can anyone clarify this situation? Are Peter and Paul one and the same? Is it Turle. Terle or Turtle?
  6. I’ve often wondered why some dyslexics only seem to struggle with swear words.
  7. Possibly so now ya mentions it, I often post at work whilst looking into, as opposed to at my monitor, to check whether anyone is behind me. I can rarely be bothered researching figures, minutia if you will, always happy to stand corrected. Was at the last Wembley World Final (I Was There) 'The 1981 Bruce Penhall One', not the greatest racing, other than Penhall v Knudsen & Penhall v Olsen, but huge crowd (91,000 apparently) & tremendous atmosphere....
  8. Out of curiosity, I’ve checked to see if there is a Curling Forum…….and there is! Everyone seems to be very polite with nobody moaning about things like surfaces being too slick etc……Just one confused poster complaining that none of the posts have anything to do with hairdressing!
  9. Today
  10. It couldn't sustain a top tier winning team in the mid 90's, with GP's to back up the publicity of the tracks existence... Even less chance of running a team there now, particularly given the changes required to the circuit to fit an air fence, and pits, in...
  11. Bradford Bulls on Sky Sports now, if anyone wants a look at the place
  12. Saw that coming a mile away. Best start applying for loans now folks because I've got a feeling now they've got the exclusive it's going to be big bucks. I for one won't be paying for it if its big money, I'd sooner do without and just watch the GPs.
  13. If Speedway had a fraction of the coverage that the beeb have given to Curling over the last 2 weeks!!! Literally every time I've switched the TV on somebody has been Curling one out!!!
  14. BSN have just announced a 3 year deal to stream championship and premiership speedway that's good news. prices out next week 😀 But after this winter exploits will speedway be still around in 3 years 🤔
  15. It's gonna be more entertaining than Curling 😁
  16. A bit early, (even for a Friday night).... But... Getting some popcorn... Keep logged in (please)....
  17. There was a lot of bravado from CVS when he confirmed we were definitely not running after 2023, but that was enthusiasm and passion talking. Its more i think that he is realistic now. Getting a new venue or back into Monmore will be a long old slog with no guarantees either option would be successful. We're nearly three years on now and we still don't know the full story of why we were booted out, we just have hearsay and Chinese whispers to go on. It took ten years to get speedway back on Teeside when CVS was much younger and the sport was in a better state (or by comparison to today).
  18. Alright Rog you patronising cnut. You're about as funny as rabies in a guide dogs home.
  19. Maybe... You would also think that they would have been far more vocal in their pursuit of opening the track over the past few months.. It may not happen, but lots of updates would at least have put it into the consciousness of the local populace... With, maybe next year, it coming to fruition.. They are just absolutely "Barry White" at hype and marketing... And, having done it for a living, so much of it costs absolutely "eff all"... Especially even more so now that we live in a 24/7 social media age..
  20. Well that’s another week of silence, the eventual news better be all singing and dancing greatest speedway news ever
  21. Maybe if they had listened to Chris Louis who informed the BSPL four years ago that speedway was welcome at Northampton and would be a vital additional track. then we wouldn’t have this last minute rush to launch and the delay of fixtures etc.
  22. He might no be far off the mark considering at the time of the last Wembley world finals 25k would buy a decent house. The promoters may not have made enough to buy one from scratch but many mortgage's could have been paid off. Just imagine today, a sold out Wembley for speedway would create a minimum of £5 million in revenues - Although typical sold out events there generate upwards towards £11 million. we can dream!
  23. Have I missed something ? What are the 'stock car announcements' you are referring to ?
  24. An obvious solution to the UK rider shortage... Well, it is in keeping with so many other great ideas....
