What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Hawk127 replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks. Pete Jarman, I vaguely remember him, did he ride for Eastbourne or am I again losing the plot? -
I think the problem people have is the “ what we had” to “what we’ve got”. We have lost Danny King & Erik Riss and replaced them with Jake Allen & Jordan Jenkins, it’s just the initial optics tell you it’s not as good. Best analogy I can give is it’s like getting out of a Mercedes into a Skoda. Both equally capable of doing a good job but …

I think it's a great team. Both 'newcomers' have previous spells at Redcar so it is a team that Bears fans can really identify with. In Edwards, Jenkins, Mulford, Scott and Pijper they have no less than five riders with significant potential for improvement. Just needs Allen to find his mojo.

Maybe that was the time they found out there would be no tv deal renewal... or maybe June/July when Mr Dickson called for and EAGM?
-
While the team doesn't have the second heat leader strength of last year, it does have 3 "3rd heat leaders" so the 3/4 pairing should be strong. Very decent reserves, especially of they carry on improving. Hard to judge till we see other teams complete, but see no reason they can't fight for the title.
-
Agree, Kye really improved in the second half of the season, even when moving to number 5.
-
That was a bit different, Morris signed on his last Champ average from 2023. But as soon as he rode a match, they dropped any 2022 matches from his rolling ave (only goes back 3 years) so his average dropped heavily.

Remember the play off semi final against Oxford at Ashfield when he left Pijper in against Boughen. The pair crashed with Pijper possibly lucky not to get excluded. However he wasn't fit enough to go in the rerun and Complin was brought in. He put in a great ride which turned the meeting in our favour and took us to the final, the one we won. CB got out of jail that night.

Looks good to me. Only surprise is that some Poole fans haven't posted that you must be one of the favourites.

To my untrained eye IainB posted 6 PL 8 CL is the aim

Yarmouth were the first visitors, but it was in 1949, not the late 1950s. Halifax closed in 1951 and reopened in 1965. -
Very true.
-
The plus for this team is 6 of those riders can hit the ground running with set ups there’s no getting used to a different track which will be a big plus for Redcar.
-
And Nick Morris at Berwick
-
With a real No1 Monarchs should be strong Team + a good home advantage.
-
Luke Crang
-
Also take in to consideration track conditions which had changed and go with your best gater.
-
Also if in doubt, go with experience.
-
Netflix are buying Warner Brothers.!! does that not include Discovery.
-
That's it 100%, exactly the same as what happened to Riss at Redcar (unless they change the rules).
-
I would definitely call them favourites, much stronger in reserve than last season and two new riders who could up their average considerably especially Pedersen.
-
As Glasgow finished above the points limit, I think the majority would agree the team isn't as good as last years. But they don't have to be, all the successful teams will have to drop points & in theory should look weaker next season. If I was a Glasgow fan I'd be delighted with the team built, but wouldn't call them favourites till every other team is completed.
-
Strength in depth could work .Not a bad Team.IMO.Thrte biggest trouble is that they don’t have big home track advantage.
-
I do think that Oxford intimated that they were continuing in Premiership when they first talked about only running 2 Teams.
