Seems to be an annual topic this, is Craig Cook worth the risk? He's just about as good as anyone in this league on his day. But I've lost count how many last chances he's had, how many times he's gone AWOL and let people down. Ability - yes. Reliability - no.
-
Did someone mention that over 70 riders were contesting the Polish U21 Championship? When you are laying out £1000 a point, and upwards, you will never be short of riders...
-
would they be bothered though?
-
He paid twelve hundred quid.. The restaurant only wanted eighty..!!

We all know Poland is where the "big" Speedway happens in terms of financial backing, prestige, top riders etc. but I'm sure the Poles are watching the potential demise of British Speedway with a very watchful eye because the overall strength or success of Speedway in general is only as strong as its weakest link. Yes the Poles do have lots of riders to fill their leagues but they also rely on riders from other countries such as the UK, Sweden and Denmark. Rumours seem to indicate that Sweden is in a similar situation to Britain where Speedway is seemingly on the decline so the Poles may find the stream of riders coming from the aforementioned countries eventually drying up. It's all well and good Poland dictating terms etc but in the future they may find themselves being the only country actively running Speedway at a top level. Their riders would have no one else to ride against except fellow countrymen! So, as I said earlier I am sure they will be watching what is currently happening with British Speedway and hopefully, with much more than just a passing interest.

It doesn't have to be the stadium being unavailable (although that is certainly the main reason for putting a licence on ice, like Swindon, Wolves, Peterborough etc), but Louis would have to show a "Force Majeure" as a reason for applying to put the licence on ice. That is an "unforeseeable, uncontrollable, event" which stops him running. I doubt that just fancying a year off counts as "Force Majeure". I think any application to put the licence on ice for no real reason would be knocked back.

It's surely the other way around... all these riders have been signed up to CL clubs for weeks
-
Think you've got to put faith in Cookie. Vuolas just can't seem to adapt to the majority of British tracks but Cookie is a proven No.1 in this League, It's just his mindset that's the problem.

who paid?🤣

bez changed their profile photo

I understood the asset system - along with loan fees - had been dispensed with? And testimonials were considered for riders that have been in British speedway for 10 years?
-
All proven scorers around the NSS though. Tried and Tested in a watered down League could be the way to go instead of taking a punt on Newcomers that may struggle.
-
...probably - as they would have to wait for Rushen to come of age!!!!

Consensus seems to be: Batch is good on his day and Cook is very good when and if he turns up, in every sense of the word. I'd be a bit worried with both in my team, but you never know.....

Would've been a cracking side imo. 1. J. Doyle 7.86 2. A. Ellis 5.92 3. D. King 6.50 4. K. Rew 6.19 5. T. Brennan 7.05 or T. Musielak 6.63 6. J. Jenkins 3.46 7. J. Edwards (RS) = 36.98 or 36.56

Leicester Lions 2026
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Indeed such a shame the Championship have to steal Premiership second strings to use as their No1s -
To be fair M.D, Mike after he won the world championship was about as reliable as the british summer at that point moving forward. I remember his comeback meeting at Lynn after his ban a year out and he beat Erik Gunderson the then world champion on his first race back but from that point he just started to lose interest and missed loads of meetings he didn't fancy. It was a real shame in his final comeback early 90's as to how far he had fallen Andy Meredith who at this point was a wobbler was ahead of him and Mike was lining him up perfectly to pass on every single corner but he just didn't have the bottle anymore to pull the move off.

I agree, Nobody is really.
-
1-5 is the exact 1-5 Leicester should be aiming for, Nick Morris is a trump card. Defo get rid of Kemp though because he's let you guys down 2 Years in a row when the going got tough. Jonas Jeppesen or Paco Castagna @ No.6 would be better imo.
-
LOL. That's exactly what they are. A testimonial is granted for someone who has been an asset of a club for 10 years. When a rider is tranferred they are entitled to a percentage of the transfer fee for each year they have been an asset. Thus to compensate someone who hasn't moved, for the years of missing out on a percentage transfer fee, they got a testimonial.

Heard rule for 2027 is Poland plus only 1 other league like it was a few years ago.

Doyle has a finite time left in the sport ,therefore needs to make the best financial decisions he can to maximise his income .
-
You know very well, the Ford's won't put up with it. I would worry more about the potential signing of Craig Cook, should make a good double act with Spatchelor 😆
-
Hans was an an amazing rider but Bart is centainly not "way behind him" !
-
Yep slight problem there.
