Foord seems to miss lots of development meetings. It does seem some riders take it more seriously than others. - Today

No Vinnie Foord. Replaced by Kenzie Cossey. That's a big hole in the Steelers team. -
Except for the time when he picked up one of those injuries that only allowed him to ride in Poland when he should have been riding for King's Lynn and left them up the creek like Ben Cook did this season.

Just reacting to Saddlebow Road who was saying he would rather have a fairer racetrack. I agree your track is usually smooth and it has been mentioned many times about the material used. Harris has moaned that it is gate and go which doesnt suit him but most tracks are prepared to suit certain riders. I do think it is used as an excuse when certains riders underperform though but in fairness some Glasgow fans are happy to admit they were just beaten by the better team. I dont think your failure to make the play offs in recent years is related to how the track is prepared though!

In fairness to TM he has always been great value and dedicated to British Speedway. And usually a very reliable heat leader.

Sometimes you remember the stupid things that happen, as a Canterbury supporter four very stupid memories come back. when the supporters on the coach had a whip round to buy Mike Ferreria from Coatbridge so he could ride that night. The time the coach driver was declared as our number 8 at Berwick so we didn't get a fine for not having enough riders, An injured Bob Spelta shouting abuse at fellow Ausies at Crayford and a Crayford supporter telling him he should try riding if he thought he could do better, with Bob pointing out he got ten points last time he was there. But the highlight must be the time Barry Thomas started his bike in the back of the coach full of supporters while on the motorway on the way to an away match. Frightened the life out of everyone including the driver. Good times.

Mark Thorpe if I remember correctly... I was there that night. All these rules are there for a reason, probably insurance related (?) and if they're not adhered to they probably wouldn't pay out.

*sigh* I don't know what's happened to you FB, you used to be such a good poster. If the Lynn track is doctored then they've certainly made a rubbish job of it since we last made the Play Offs in 2018. As has been pointed out a zillion times the surface is unique and very high in clay because of the stocks (which keep the stadium amd speedway going) Most importantly its smooth and without bumps or holes and has enough dirt for everyone to race on it. Its far from the best track out there nowadays during to the material but everyone can try to pass with confidence as its consistent and safe. Anyway well done Worky and commiserations Glasgow. -
The flashing light is due to a rider, I believe it was Swindon, running into a tractor on the parade lap.

One of the solutions was 6pm starts, had to move this one to 3pm die to medical cover. -

Thought you told us for years you get your speedway fix at Redcar and Workington and don't go to Berwick. How can it have been your first meeting? -
Yes I have... and I also have posted about it several times. ... and don't get me started about practice starts without helmets... when is a practice start not a practice start? ... and flashing lights on tractors! FLASHING LIGHTS ON TRACTORS!! 🚜 🚨

I thought it was common knowledge that he didn’t bail and had only signed a short-term deal…
-
You would have thought Lampart, Pawliki and Milik would have taught him not to sign Poles (and Czechs) - I agree Tobi M has been a flop! I had my doubts in the first meeting at Sheffield when he mustered 3 from 4 starts on one of his former home tracks! ATleast he is now attractive to any club for 2026. Of course the real shame was Jensen bailing when he did!

Part of his issue would have been the stadium rent, he even considered (for a bit) continuing to be the single leaseholder if i understood what he said correctly. If you take places like Plymouth / Workington / Scunthorpe I can only assume there model is that they are not constrained by large rents to a landlord? ergo they have a bit more budget for riders etc, or it helps stem losses. This goes back to a guy who was a chartered surveryor who many years back wrote on here and in the star about many clubs being hampered by renting - the future he argued was owning your won stadium etc. I caught a bt of the marketing from Plymouth on facebook and they seem to be doing the kids races like up in Glasgow. On that note the Glasgow promotion -have proved that perhaps you can attract a decent (ish) crowd in a large City? In the same star as the Tolley interview there is a decent bit on Glagow and their ambition - they get 1500+ crowds - the type that Tolley would have loved to get!
