  2. It's a sport that doesn't follow an operating model that any team sport should.. In the UK... A team sport should have emotional engagement.. For good or bad, but never, indifference... UK Speedway doesn't engage that emotional attachment... Who cares who wins competitions that have little prestige or financial reward? And can be won by other teams helping you win by loaning you their competitors, often to the detriment of their own team, their other riders, and (most importantly), their own fans.. The sport is full of Hobbyists who are quite happy to rub shoulder to shoulder with a level of rider that they simply couldn't afford if they solely had to pay his wages... Hobbyists who are quite content to put out "any Speedway" given winning or losing won't impact them positively, or adversely, to any serious degree.. Basically Dean, the sport has ran its course, still using a 60 year old operating model, without any major customer focused changes... (What you could get a way with 60 years ago, you have no chance in a 24/7 instant media)... It is now nothing more than a conduit for riders to try and earn a years worth of money in six months, with a willing promoter happy to enable them to do so.. The fervant, almost indecent haste, to ensure six teams in tier one, so plenty could double up, clearly showed that... The sport has become mundane, which, ironically, given its ultra exciting raw product, is an indictment on those in charge... The sport needs energy, desire, ambition and passion from its leaders... It seems to have none of that..
  3. That's great thanks, the bit I used to find amusing was the fella who had to run onto the track to remove the starting gate and take it to the centre green.
  4. Programme ordered, plus N.K. Iversen testimonial as well. Cheers ScunnyDan! šŸ‘
  5. It's not just you, I said a few weeks ago that I'd lost my mojo and the meetings have been that few and far between I've not had much chance to try and get it back... an away victory at Sheffield and the scrap in the return leg did create a spark though. I'm planning on going to Northamptoningham on Thursday and hopefully with the SGP starting up and some more BSN coverage incoming I'll be back on track soon.
  6. Biggest problem with the Elite league is the money they throw at the top ā€˜stars’. Stars who could walk down the street without anyone batting an eyelid and who have little impact on the attendance. Admission cost is around the Ā£25 mark for adults which offers poor value to money and the associated cost like food, drink and merchandise is prohibitively expensive for most. It needs to move away from having a board of directors made up of participating clubs and go independent. With attendance averaging around 1500 over the last few years it was good to see it top 2000 last season though I’m sure come the first televised match next season from the massive AO arena the mantra will be ā€œwhy all the empty seats in Manchesterā€? Only in ice hockey eh?

  8. I feel like I’ve fell out of love with British speedway, everywhere you look it seems to be in desperate times with shambles happening weekly and I feel worn down by the whole lot and I feel like nobody cares within the sport, I thought I was going to be a regular at Buxton at least and I’ve only been to the opening meeting and I don’t feel like I’ve missed it, I had planned to go to Northampton’s opening meeting but I can’t be bothered now,I genuinely feel like the winter debacle has worn me down, I watched Plymouth v Glasgow on BSN the other night and just got frustrated by all the delays,to the point where I was playing ball with my dog more than watching the meeting, where is that sport I fell in love with 50years ago? Or is it me that’s changed ??
  9. A very good and brave post from Ben Barker. However, the history of this country in recent years has been the complete refusal to take responsibility by public bodies for their action. Hillsborough, the tainted blood scandal, the Post Office scandal and the grooming gangs show that those in positions of responsibility persistently refuse to acknowledge their errors. So I won't be holding my breath for Godfrey to step down or be sacked.
  10. An unusual, but novel idea....
  11. They obviously took their fan’s opinions as the future. Maybe a few other sports should take their lead eh 🫤
  12. I wonder if he has Red, Blue, White and Yellow mats leading to his front door from his driveway?🤣
  13. They did stop it for a short amount of time.... Fan numbers dropped, and feedback wasn't good.. So they brought it back...
  14. Any sport 'under cover' ie indoors, stands a far better chance of attracting bigger crowds. Presumably they will also benefit from the AO Arena's publicity regime?
  15. Do they still knock seven bells out of each other on the ice ? . Best bit about that sport imo
  16. Yes they do.... And also plan games in knowing 100% that their players will be playing Ice Hockey somewhere else in another competition... However, they fix this by lending and borrowing some of the best players to each other through the season... It really works well...
  17. Bomber’s up for it apparently. It’s not often he gets to ride other tracks while not representing his own team .
  18. Beef would suggest I have had an issue with him for a while. I havent. I have had an issue with how he acted on Saturday. Crash happened, ref made a decision, Greg cries over mic saying its worst decision he's ever seen. He runs up to ref box, stays in there for a while (just asking what's happening though), and then returns to centre green stating "yous wont be happy folks, looks like the ref is sticking with his decision". A minute later, decision is changed. Awfully Unprofessional and needs to hide his bias when doing what hes doing. Also, no consideration for the injured riders when, straight after the incident, he asks the referee what's the scores. Prat.
  19. Do they bring the ice smoothing machine out for 10 minutes after 4 minutes of play?
  20. Wasn't Arena the only track where you got excluded for leaving it? And does anyone have any videos of it with no fence as I couldn't find one on you tube? I know when I first went there in 89 the mighty Rob Tilbury cleaned up with 15.
