  3. Yes, I mean from the point that they took over... but unless you are prepared to travel to Europe you're only going to see our national team ride at home once or twice a year and this year not at all. I'm struggling to understand how this benefits British Speedway, it garner's little to no media interest, they may ride around with Daily Star plastered on their arses but just doing a quick search now on their website and the last Speedway story was about Emma Jones and the one prior to that Linda Lusardi! They'll be shown twice this year on pay-TV if they're lucky and they're just bringing on the youngsters, meaning they often miss British club matches so they can gain international experience and then be poached by Polish clubs leaving us using journeymen guests or rider replacement in their absence!
  4. Danny King is having a good season and is worth consideration if his form continues.
  5. Today
  6. If Rob was in charge of the countries finances rather than Reeves he would have the three trillion deficit paid off in a year just don't expect a penny outside an uber tight budget to be spent.
  7. Sadly Iain there seems to have been a lack of interest in solving any of the problems for the last 20 years. UK speedway just doesn't do plan b or c its more lets just wait a couple of months before the start of the season and carry on as is with a few more band aids and try and kick that can a bit further.
  8. I agree in principle, but I also know if we do that and guests become 2-point NDL riders, crowds will get worse very quickly. Guests of a similar calibre do at least mean we usually get good racing even if the system frustrates. Chuck in two-point riders and no-one will be satisfied. I guess if only one rider is missing, R/R isn't terrible, but I can think of quite a few fixtures where it's been multiple riders. Ultimately, might not be an issue past this year anyway, because how many riders of that level be left racing here?
  9. I think you mean in the 2000s. We were the World Champions, plus silver and bronze medallists from the 70's right the way through to the late 80s. That was when it was 5-man teams. We have under the speedway of nations, two golds and two silvers. Fantastic achievements, but all in name, a pair's event. When it comes to the 5 man team event, we've not yet won. As for England's record in the pairs in the past. It's a fantastic record. 70s through to the late 80s, 7 Golds, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze. 👍
  10. But. ..... The swifter rearrangement of rained-off BSN and KOC has been demanded by everyone to prevent finals having to be held in the darker reaches if October To achieve these faster restagings, clubs are therefore unable to decline away dates that don't totally suit them. Can't have it both ways ......
  11. Need to re-sign Jake Allen, he’s going well at Redcar picking up loads of points.🤣
  12. Thanks to R&R again for doing this, I’m backing the Brits tnt. Bewley £100 more Lambert £100 more
  13. Another emphatic win coming up for the Witches
  14. Was Melnychuk the Ukrainian rider looking for a place over here last season? Looked like he'd be a solid option for someone if he was available.
  15. I don't think I used the word Bribed. As for Hagon, you don't have to have a logo on a team suit to sponsor the team. Look at the end of the day when it comes to the final, as long as we stay clear of injuries. The team picks itself. Unless the riders who rode last night had to pay for their own expenses, then I can't fathom why so many were overlooked? Unless as you say, all the riders who are imo better than Cairns and Flint, turned it down. Lawson's article in the star suggests otherwise.
  16. It's all very well and good having a professional national team, which has absolutely knocked anything that came before out of the park, but... to what end? How does it benefit British Speedway? It very nearly wasn't even on TV last night and even then behind a £30+ per month pay wall. We don't even get to see the national team in on track action in this country and the only connection it has with fans is through social media.
  17. Tbh tonight is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things win lose or draw. We need to win tomorrow to progress.
  18. I didn’t name any rider. Deliberately. Many have a claim for a place, been offered a chance to ride in a lesser event, turned it down and now want to come in for the big event. Should they be allowed to leap frog those that have shown commitment to GB? Or do they need to show a little humility in order to earn a place? But I accept it’s a dilemma - Painter and Blackwell have built a group around them to develop a winning team and, with the exception of last year have done really well. My view is that part of the success is continuity - the team is stronger as a whole than the individual parts. Bringing in riders on a one off basis runs the risk of ruining that continuity. And as far as paying for a rider to compete - where is the evidence that Paul Cairns has paid (bribed?) GB to allow Will to ride? And suggesting that Hagon Shocks sponsorship - when was that, by the way, as I don’t recall seeing their logo on GB Team suits in the recent past - has got Sam a team place isn’t really borne up by the facts. The main team that rode last night were chosen on merit. The reserve perhaps on availability - and willingness to race. And we qualified. What more do people want?
  19. This could be a cracker, Redcar usually do well at the GT tyres Northside arena, but the last 2 meetings the patched up Comets have done a great job getting 2 fantastic wins, predict a Comets win but run off for the bonus points 🔵⚪🏁😃 UTC hope the racing is as good as last week, with yesterday's rain lots of moisture in the track
