  2. I'm no Peter Schroeck fan but, no, it's absolute nonsense. No idea who started that rumour, but it's been taken completely out of context. Richard Palmer was interviewing Freddy Hodder before the start of the meeting and thanked him for his good performance when guesting in the last home meeting against Leicester. Hodder simply replied with "I'm sorry I can't guest for you today" as a joke, and somebody has taken that as if he was asked to guest.

  4. It most certainly is... I just typed the exact words from the OP into Google AI, interestingly it didn't mention female Speedway or Wembley. I'm not suggesting AI is right, because in my experience it most certainly always isn't... but it's very good for idea generation.

The difference being that others sports national teams have not farmed out the running of their national team to a 3rd party company and then just forgot about them, there doesn't seem to be any tie in to the domestic leagues other than riders going missing for many weekends. GB Speedway Team's management have done wonders for the national team... British Speedway as a whole? I'm trying to think of any benefits 🤷‍♂️

  7. In this situation, wouldn't call it a risk, Trigger has a similar rolling ave to Smith, so they're not basing a change on 1 match. When Glasgow signed Hodder based on 1 good match, when he averaged well below 2.00 all season, sounds more like the scenario you're suggesting.

  10. Every sport ensures its National Team is as successful as possible as they know it has a direct positive knock on impact to the public interest, media coverage and domestic league... Hence, both Cricket and Rugby Union, who were struggling to compete with Football's cut through, went down the route of central contracts... They knew that the likes of Middlesex or Saracens winning their respective leagues wouldn't drive the sport forwards, but a successful National Team would... Speedway has a different idea than using a successful National Team to drive their domestic leagues forward.... A good idea....

  14. Major difference being that Poland have priority on those days as per the international agreements. Only meetings on Mondays, and partly on Thursdays depending, have priority in Britain. So if a rider is required elsewhere for international meetings be that Denmark on a Weds, or Poland on a Saturday or Sunday or whatever the situation, then that's fair game really but you do get a guest option.

Had a quick look at the 2025 averages Hagon 3.84 (4.16) Smith 2.76 (3.20) Trigger 3.60 (4.53) This won't show any guest appearances, but shows Trigger was not poor for Plymouth (he upped his starting average) but was dropped because the team on the whole was weak. If Berwick have play-offs aspirations, then Trigger for Smith is a signing they need to make imo
