Ipswich v Sheffield 4th September

I said it when we lost against Lynn. We are not as strong now as people think. We won’t win the league, we are carrying people at the moment, and you can’t do that and win the league. We don’t even have our ‘foxhall’ advantage recently, we’ve been pretty crap to be fair… compared to the start of the season. -

Giving you a false sense of hope! -
I think you just summed up life in general in 2025, not just speedway. You could argue in this case however that riders professionalism has took a huge upwards curve and therefore expect a return, whilst some promotions have not followed suit. Bringing a disparity in expections of what the sport is. Morrissey famously saw it coming way back when he wrote "I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving, England is mine and it owes me a living" I can't comment as I wasn't around in the 80s but I can only imagine what a different time it was.

Will it really make a huge difference? Which is Leicester’s preferred race night? Both teams should get a decent attendance at home … -

The millions of pounds worth of prize money difference between finishing 2nd or 3rd makes it a huge meeting -

I think they’ve mucked-up the balance of the team - it must have been an error to allow Thompson’s average to creep above Ellis’s by 0.04 … no excuses. -

Hi made it in time for heat 3. There was a mysterious electrical fault affecting the ref’s controls, which held things up for another five minutes. This should have been held at KL, then it wouldn’t have started until 8:15 … although, thinking about it, if it were at KL the match would have been called off yesterday … -
Modern day riders across the board think everybody owes them a living and are beyond greedy when it comes to money. Very few if almost any would do anything for nothing, not like back in the 80s. Yes I realise they need to spend on machinery etc etc but they all make far more than the average working man so you'd think they'd give something back. This along with unreasonable admission prices is among other things that's destroying Speedway.

Not having a pop at you, just saying it's way wide of the mark. The planning app for Studley Grange is in the consultation phase until next Thursday. There are currently a LOT of objections.

What about Northampton?

Is it wide enough with air fences up? -
The problem is the location, not that near to Northampton, long way from the likes of Coventry and Peterborough. Getting a crowd to attend regular would be very difficult. Track shape doesn't look great either, they say would be longest track in country but very long straights and tight in comparison bends.

Brafield, or Northampton Shaleway, as I believe it's now called.

But the play-offs used to be in late September, and even ran into October - they've been brought forward to earlier in September. It's obvious they need to complete the league fixtures, but for whatever reason they haven't used some dates - and it can rain any time ... -
This is the first realistic comment I’ve seen and deffo makes a lot of sense… this could work.

What about Northampton?
BTFC LION replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who ever decides to try and go into Northampton will need very deep pockets. Track wise there would need to be a lot of investment, other facilities around the track are very good, -

In all honesty, probably not, but as we can still mathematically finish 2nd it is not a nothing meeting.
