bigcatdiary 3,165 Posted August 21, 2006 Call me old fashioned but I would like the series to consist of riders there on merit - I think that the nomination of wildcards sucks. Without going over the old ground of GP's v. World Final and the imperfections of the qualification system for a world final, at least every rider in the world final had to qualify via a number of meetings. I think that the top 8 should qualify for the next year's GP series and all the rest should qualify on the race track and not smoke filled rooms. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Completely agree, only the top 8 should get into next years GP, the rest should qualify although I still think its we will have 2 brits, Harris is my bet after his good final score
salty 2,202 Posted August 21, 2006 Niels Kristian Iversen may get a place he is young exciting and featured in the Danish SWC team and the BSI marketing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agree with what you say and a very strong finish to the Series this year might save him, but I can't see a Dane getting a seeded spot (making 4 Danes) and leaving GB with only 1 rider for 2007. arnieg 3,648 Posted August 21, 2006 But if Nicholls misses Prague he will probably drop out of the top 8, leaving the real possibility that he may not finish in the top 8. If that happens then Nicholls will undoubtedly get a nominated place. But this may reduce Harris' chance of getting a place as BSI may not be keen on giving two of their nominations to one country
Guest Shale Eater Posted August 22, 2006 2007 GP Line up will be Jason Crump Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson Leigh Adams Tomasz Gollob Bjarne Pedersen Matej Zagar Hans Andersen Rune Holta Wieslaw Jagus Scotty Nicholls Jarek Hampel Antonio Lindback Simon Stead The top 3 will finish Hans Crump AJ
barrow boy 119 Posted August 22, 2006 The top 8 automatically requalify. The remaining 7 to go in a GP Challenge Race Off against the top 8 qualifiers from the GP qualifiers plus the World Junior Champion with the top 7 going into the GP proper. Remaining place to be available for a wild card rider. Won't happen I know but this is what I feel and I will shout it from the rooftops at every opportunity. Maybe just 5 qualifiy and two riders to get seeded GP 2007 (Hmm.. who's riding for Reading ?? ) Jason Crump Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson Leigh Adams Tomasz Gollob Bjarne Pedersen Matej Zagar Andersen Jagus Holta seeded: Nicholls Lindback Hampel 2nd Brit: Richardson (still can improve in last GP rounds) Loram, Reserve: P. Karlsson C. Harris (He's Reserve, so i don't think he'll be called up...)
TigerWolf 0 Posted August 23, 2006 But if Nicholls misses Prague he will probably drop out of the top 8, leaving the real possibility that he may not finish in the top 8. But this may reduce Harris' chance of getting a place as BSI may not be keen on giving two of their nominations to one country <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. Nicholls is unlikely to finish in the top 8 now but will be a nailed on nomination. The thing is, people still fail to see that speedway is ultimately a business which needs to look after it's customers. Its main customers are in Sweden, Poland and UK (both paying customers at the events and TV companies). It isn't in BSI's (and in turn, speedway's) interests to not have good rider representation of those countries as it becomes more difficult to sell tickets for the events and more difficult to for TV companies to 'sell' their coverage to non-speedway fans (if you think about the way Sky pitch it, it's in the vein of 'British riders vs. The World). BSI must get a bit sick of Denmark consistantly churning out good riders as they are taking up valuable places in the series that could be filled with more commercially valuable Brits, Poles and Swedes! Silver Bee 57 Posted August 23, 2006 No way no how will Stead got a place. Had a disapointing world cup really, did nothing as a wildcard and failed to impress in the qualifier too.
T.N.T. 355 Posted August 28, 2006 With three new qualifiers, and most likley to get re-nominated, it looks like there will be one place up for grabs. Peter Karlsson and Simon Stead look the best options to pick from, but if Fredrik Lindgren wins the World U-21's then I can see him jump ahead of them all. south coast robin 0 Posted August 28, 2006 i'll go for A TOP 15 finish of : ANDERSEN CRUMP ADAMS HANCOCK 2 PEDERSENS JONSSON GOLLOB HAMPEL NICHOLLS ZAGAR LINDBACK KARLSSON HOLTA JAGUS Can't see Rico Harris or Steady getting in which would be bad for British speedway
infernoradio 0 Posted August 29, 2006 dont think richardson can do it really, he has been in the series for 2 or 3 years and i dont think has ever got into the top 8 (correct me if im wrong!) Harris should get in as a wildcard... and matej z if he doesnt get in the top 8. in my opinion: Jason Crump Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson Leigh Adams Tomasz Gollob Bjarne Pedersen Matej Zagar Hans Andersen Rune Holta Wieslaw Jagus Scotty Nicholls Jarek Hampel Antonio Lindback Chris Bomber Harris top 3 i reckon will be: Crump Hancock Andersen (dont know which order though)

Therefore there will be no outside nominations and BSI will claim that all riders had a chance to qualify, so why replace a GP rider with someone who cant get through the qualifiers. Just a guess, but can you say who should be dropped from the top 12 ?

Nicholls has sworn if he does not qualify he will not ride next season. So that will be interesting to see how that situation goes because looking at the scores he is going to need a final place. Bjarne Pedersen may be a Wild Card but may have to sweat for a place. He is immediately replaced by another Dane Hans Andersen but in all honesty there is not a great deal of top class riders out there - SO I can see Bjarne getting nominated again. Should Hampel / Gollob have the big meeting in Poland that will be 3 poles in next year , so the WC may go to Freddie Lindgren who is probably ready to make the next big step up.
