lucifer sam 3,953 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) I'd like to see: * Minimum of 4 British / Commonwealth riders per team (raising to 5 in 2014 and 6 in 2015). * Tactical subs (6 or more behind) instead of tactical rides. Also a team six points or more behind can swap gates (1&3 instead of 2&4 or vice versa). * Maintain current scoring system, but also have aggregate point. * Pits telephone calls to ref to be broadcast over the PA - keep the crowd informed and entertained. * Keep points limit of 42.50. * Reserves at 6&7, but rest of team can line-up as team manager wishes. * Foreign riders cannot drop under initial average. * Assessed averages on new foreign riders to be increased. * Double points for Heat 15 - more last heat deciders. * Go straight into league matches - split into northern and southern conferences, teams meet other teams in same conference twice, teams from other conference once. Top 4 into play-off semi-finals. * Award the Young Shield to the team that tops the league table, so they've got something to show for their efforts (similiar to Rugby League's minor). * Scrap the League Cup and PCT. * KO Cup matches over one leg until the semi-finals. KO Cup dates reserved, with final in mid-August. * Play-off semi-finals and final to be televised. Play-off final in final week of September. Mr Ore 204 Posted November 2, 2012 Couldnt agree more with the Dumbing down bit, they have done this for years and it reduces the quality of the racing, this years 6 point men would just become next years 8 point men and demand the higher money next year Spot on. Looking back when then points limit started teams seemed to look at getting heat leaders in place quickly, followed by the reserves. This left most teams looking for 4 point riders who, knowing the demand to fill team places, were asking for and ultimately getting silly money. The heat leaders, who initialy were happy with contracts, then found they were on less than poorer riders. Even asking for parity put up costs again. At the end of the day too, in spite of all teams allegedly starting equal one finishes top and one at the bottom so they can't be that equal otherwsie they should all finish level. cowboycolin 0 Posted November 2, 2012 To help save on costs why fly in foreign riders who are no better or dont give 100% .we ve had them at berwick and i imagine every team has had them my suggestions are no1 any non british rider below 6.00pt ave who doesnt better their starting average doesnt get a team place the following year... (but can retry the next year. So they have to miss a year then they can retry) no2 go back to old tac subs from gate best rider normal points no3 unsatisfactory start all four back means straight back no visiting pits no4 riders not to cry off at the least bit rain they should be able to ride wet tracks (some of the best races i can recall were on rain soaked tracks loram/moggo//bentley final of bordernapolis..........ian turner winning danny talylor memorial years ago torrential rain these guys just got on with it why cant they do that now its all down to throttle control) rider have to take some responsability for the state of the sport
IronScorpion 1,407 Posted November 2, 2012 There has been changes made to suit teams in 2011 then changed again in 2012. If a rule is changed then it cannot be amended for 3 years. Too many changes makes it hard to explain to newbies interested in our sport. (Take football & the offside rule!). Make it simple & easy to follow- no bending of the rule. These are my choices for 2013; Team building at 42. 14heats x 3pts. Riders staying at clubs to have 3% reduction. This would be better for fans to follow their favourites rather than stop watching their "team". Cut off date to remain for League Winners. This gives positions for the following competitions. Play-Offs to decide League Champions. Top 4 via KO-1v4 & 2v3 Premier Trophy via KO. 5v12 6v11 7v10 8v9 then 5/12 v 8/9 & 6/11 v 7/10 etc Do away with Tactical Rides( i have never liked them) Use of Tactical Sub if 8points behind using riders only below a riders CMA being replaced. Use of Tactical Gate Switch if 8 points behind. Only swap 1&3 for 2&4 & not any 2 gates of choice. Use of above 2 rules only between hts 5-12 at any time but only once each. Reserves to have 6 rides maximum except for injuries during meetings when 7 will apply. All 4 back after unsatisfactory start back to start line. Practice starts done when entering track so should know of set-up correct. Video cameras at start line. (Even GP's are not inline with finish giving false impression. Maplins do cameras(similar to Johnny 5's eyes) & recorders so affordable. Penalise rolling at start. Riders MUST be still. Anticipating start is generally riders reactions to starting magnets being released-not punishable. Scoring System(as i have posted pre 2012) 3pt home win by 12 pt margin. Away 4pt win by 8pt margin. The rest of the system is ok. A teams better riders(normally 1 & 5) have too much say in deciding meetings(hts 13 & 15). No EL rider in NL. If good enough for EL then TOO good for NL. Too many posters putting on forums about Roynon(very good rider who's had far too many injuries) & also R Worrall(at start of season but hardly mentioned now).

oldtimer 340 Posted November 2, 2012 Bring back the silver helmet Grading at set heats to avoid doctoring gates Don't count league cup towards averages Bring back the Golden Helmet match race. I have just seen Ladbrokes offering 20/1 any of the above suggestions being implemented.

Backless 538 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) A few of my suggestions have already been made, thanks. Ar you suggesting that here has never been a post made on here criticising the BSPA for "tinkering" with the ules from year to year, or that any of this doesn't fall into "rule tinkering"? Get over yourself. Edited November 2, 2012 by Backless

Guest WTF1 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) The team that finishes top of the league automatically goes into the play off final the next 4 race over 2 semi finals /final to decide the other play off finalist. scrap the ridiculous PCT matches for teams that finish in the bottom half of the league. all teams to have at least 2 British riders in the team. all stadiums to have retracting roof's like Cardiff so no more rain offs underfloor heating on terraces especially in October lol!
