Bagpuss 10,781 Posted April 10, 2014 A full page colour advert for the National Speedway Stadium 'Buy a Brick' campaign in last nights Poole matchday programme, so continued support for the stadium from the south coast!! Any other clubs showing constructive support? In return for fourteen garunteed points this season no doubt
SCB 0 Posted April 10, 2014 So how many meetings have the council had now to give BV the good news? It's amazing, they keep telling us of all this good new over coming hurdles but enevr tell us of such hurdles. Anyway, good news, I had a meeting in work this morning. YAY!!! LagutaRacingFan 1,936 Posted April 10, 2014 A lot of jealousy in this thread from opposing fans, BV are going to move into a purpose built speedway stadium while the rest remain in dog tracks and 3rd world stadia.
MattK 3,447 Posted April 11, 2014 Full report can be read here: http://www.manchester.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/16782/item_8_-_eastlands_community_plan_update Some interesting information which answers and informs points made above. No actual minutes from the meeting seem to be available.
orion 7,615 Posted April 11, 2014 Yet more great news for the Belle Vue stadium ...fantastic .
New Science 1,059 Posted April 12, 2014 Latest update here http://www.bellevueaces.co Still a way to go but another positive step forward. Those concerned about the ongoing costs seem to ignore what the Belle Vue management and others have explained about the income stream the stadium will create from non speedway activities and that the business plan has been approved by respected auditors. I've read the official statement from Belle Vue and there is no mention of the increase in costs or whether Belle Vue will be accountable to pay it back or over what period. Can someone confirm if this is the case or is it one of the issues we are not allowed to know about.I agree with "oneofclubs" how dare people come on hear and debate the feasibility of the project, finance, costs, lengthy delays,no communication, buy a brick scheme,no planning permission etc.Shame on you ! Yes they will pay the additional costs. The total cost is now £5.25m which will be paid for by Manchester City Council taking out a loan and Belle Vue Speedway paying it back over up to 24 years (was previously 60 years). Belle Vue Speedway will also be responsible for maintenance and repairs to the stadium.

Presume Belle Vue will also be responsible for paying the wages of all stadium staff which I don't think they do at the moment.Seems the increase in costs might trim the margins, with speedway not being the most profitable business at present or likely in the future hope the people in charge have got their figures right ! Daniel Smith 5,666 Posted April 12, 2014 Regardless of other projects within the stadium the report states the full £5.25m has to be paid back within 24yrs. That is a staggering £18,229 per month, £4,207 per week. Wow Trying to be a realist here and to just say "don't worry about the numbers" is outrageous. People are calling us jealous but I think what you'll find is there's more concern and realistic fear about losing another team over a dream stadium. We have to know how the Belle Vue management will make this sustainable. The Belle Vue business model still isn't clear from the management as they're still in discussions as stated here "The National Speedway Stadium build costs have increased by £0.75m to £5.25m and will be funded from prudential borrowing and the Council’s investment will be repaid by Belle Vue Aces in line with the rental lease agreement. The Council are working with Belle Vue Aces on the development of their business plan to mitigate any risk of default on full recovery of loan". Sorry but this seems obsurd and nowhere near even getting off the ground as yet
Mixy230 120 Posted April 12, 2014 Biggest problem I see is time delays ! Every delay puts the price up and the monthly repayment !
The White Knight 9,039 Posted April 12, 2014 Biggest problem I see is time delays ! Every delay puts the price up and the monthly repayment ! Sadly that is a fact of life. It is also why they need to get it done ASAP.
oldace 1,678 Posted September 8, 2014 WHICH track will have its new stadium first... Belle Vue or Swindon? Swindon's stadium has already been granted outline planning permission, however as Orion says, it will never be built. Belle Vue haven't even applied for planning permission yet, unless someone can say otherwise. SPOKE to Terry today at Alf Weedon's funeral ... should be in new stadium next year. Work on the site has commenced. Is Swindons new stadium nearly finished yet Phil, the have been building it for 7 months now.
arthur cross 492 Posted September 8, 2014 Is Swindons new stadium nearly finished yet Phil, the have been building it for 7 months now. Err, umm ... they haven't done much work yet, regardless of what anyone was saying at Alf Weedon's funeral. This is what was reported in the Racing Post back in mid-April, clearly identifying sometime around now (rather than any time around that funeral) as the starting-point for any work and aiming for about a year from now for completion. http://www.racingpost.com/news/greyhounds/swindon-reveal-plans-to-build-new-stadium/1638343/
crescent girl 1,907 Posted September 9, 2014 That Belle Vue do get a stadium one day is definately important. But do we need two close-to-identical threads running here in parallel?
