Workington V Somerset 20th July

Recommended Posts

Very urgent, unfortunately our main and 2 back up texters are not able to text tonight, so we desperately require a texter for this meeting. If you can help, please send me a private message including your mobile number.

Thanks

Anyone?

We looked like losing this all the way through until the end, fantastic heat 15, crowd went crazy! Certain riders under performing again is a big cause for concern, but hey, we are top of the league :)

Would hazard a guess that your management may not be of the same opinion as your good self, 8pts up, totally in control then only end up with 1pt when you really should have had the whole lot!! Somerset adapted far better to the conditions than the Comets and almost completely dominated the meeting, but somehow, someway, Comets pulled this out of the fire, two "BIG" 5-1s in the last 3hts turned this meeting on it's head and as previously mentioned, a classic Ht15 which had just about everything you could want from a decider, passing, re passing fast as you like racing, Nick Morris all over Rene, then Rene all over Morris, great stuff!! Hats off to "both" sides for a terrific meeting, some let downs again in the Comets ranks but hey, we got there in the end and two is most certainly better than the "none" we were definitely on the way to getting? I hope that by the business end of the season Comets can actually get "all" of themselves firing at the same time, Lawson lacklustre too often tonight same with Mills, Morris tried hard and was worth a point or two more than he got, Aarnio solid enough without being dangerous and Rusty a bit below par early doors but picked up later on, Rene, does it when he needs to but has to stop the show boating, cost himself a pt or two tonight overdoing it a bit!! Rebels well served throughout with a very solid scoring performance, Ashworth was proving an able deputy for Doyle in his first 3 starts but fell away a bit at the end, Morris quick and reliable as was Davies, Schramm got good pts at reserve, Grazcjonek raced well so did Newman when he made a start otherwise not too good and good experience for Greenwood did probably what was expected of him!! A very good meeting overall tho this habit of producing lumpy tracks at the start needs sorting out, again played into the hands of the opposition and almost cost us the match, we don't ride well on an uneven surface, get it smooth from the off and meetings like this will be fewer and further between, we cant afford to drop points at home too many teams now ride DP as good as we do, stop making it easier for them? ;):D

Oh.............Heart still in overdrive!!....Phew, Worky ###### a great win after being behind in all of the meet, ht 15 was special Worky needed a 5-1 and delivered it by Howarth and Bach but Bach was under supreme pressure from Morris...more exciting than the last heat of the Speedway World Cup!!!

Comets fans were elated whilst the Rebels fans must have been deflated but it was good to see them at DP and hope they have more success at Newcastle today.

Thanks to Somerset for a great match....they always give the Comets a stern test.

Phew that was too close for comfort !!!! Somerset deserved their point they were very good opponents and nice too see their small group of fans on 2nd bend applauding both teams after heat 15. The fight for playoffs is so close so when you do get there you are gona need to have your 1-7 all firing, feel sorry for Millsy but he really is a big concern now, 3 points fri, 1 point last night beaten by a NL rider again ,Ashley has no back up and on Chris's average we could surely replace him. I know it's his machinery but maybe best for both parties it must be costing him more than he is earning . Not sure what it is with Richard but his bikes don't look a patch on when he had is Dad as mechanic , at the start of the season was Rich was nigh on untouchable round DP, out the starts and gone , not nice to see him ride like last night , although booing him after his last ride was a bit harsh from his own fans , can't be turning on our own riders !!

Well done Rene and Kyle that heat 15 was amazing , didn't think we could do it especially with Morris in it but my god did our boys do us proud , COME ON THE COMETS :-)

And therein lies the answer, "GET DAD BACK"!! :D Never heard the booing myself but at least it proves that Comets fans are very even handed, we boo anyone who doesn't do what is expected!! Up the Comets....

rusty having a go at tero after one race. seems no matter who rusty is paired with, he cant ride with them.. time to move rusty to number 2 position i think. didnt see this but, was told rene pushed ash when they both cot back to the pits after one race. time for another heart to heart talk and a bit of moving around... but saturdays meet was really good. think millsy need a 600 between his legs atm. hope it clicks soon for him.
