Guest Posted July 5, 2015 This has never been confirmed to me, but a speedway contact tells me that Ralph Horne - a jockey turned speedway rider - and especially active at Belle Vue, Coventry, Belfast and Wigan between 1946-51 was nicknamed 'Shoe' by some supporters!
