Havvy's Farewell - Poole Speedway - Friday 21st March 2014

Recommended Posts

Reading between the lines, Darcy not happy the ERC is an open field and is likely, along with Holder to ride Havvy's meeting as already pre booked. Those 2 alone could back the BSPA into a corner

Here's my take on reading between the lines.

Certain promoter/manager had a word in someones ear and that someone now has more loyalty to a rider he never rode with, didn't ride for and isn't even the same nationality as he does for his fellow Aussie, ex team mate, twin and an American who was his best buddy less than 6 months ago.

Doubt there will be many other chances this season for Poole to promote the turbo twins and possibly Hancock. Ford is a good promoter and knows if he has big names at the first meeting of 2014 (even tho he should get no financial gain from it), he gets good publicity, and possibly a few people who attend will come back for league racing. Ford and Poole will get nothing from the ERC.

My guess is both Holder and Hancock will be "invited" to ride in the ERC, whether they choose to do so however????.

Ford's a clever bloke but he's not a team player. Poole first, Poole second and BSPA somewhere in the distance.

C'mon Havvy, annoy the BSPA and announce some massive riders to ride in your Farewell.

Sayfutdinov, Gollob, Rickardsson, Pedersen, Hancock and co

Make the ERC worthless just as they have tried to make your meeting!

At least 2 of the above are/were on the cards!!!!

I think the issue here is whether any of the EL riders already lined up for Havvy's meeting will have the b***s to take the BSPA on?! Also if any of the 'non-2014 EL guests' that the newly formatted and newly named ERC was hoping to attract eg the likes of Hancock, Holder, Lindgren etc., are prepared to stand up and be counted?!

There is quite a lot of fans on social media that are calling for Havvy and his booked riders to carry on with it on 21st!! :t:

Looks like Ward is going to be at Havvy Farewell so one in the eye for the elc.

With Holder also riding at Poole plus a few other big names, this event looks like it's going to P all over the event at Coventry.

Shame on the BSPA for rearranging this fixture to clash. Never mind plenty of riders at the ERC like Auty, Barker, North, mads k and fans favourite Woodward.

Will Poole be allowed to host a meeting on the same day as a shared event ?

In the past clubs have been refused permission to race (e,g, iirc Glasgow were not allowed to race when the 4s were being run).

Interesting times (and lots of sabre rattling) ahead.

They wouldn't be able to stop it as it was on the calendar months before the ERC was moved and they also wouldn't be able to ban riders who would have already signed up for Havvys meeting.

If they did attempt to stop Havvys meeting going ahead they could find it very expensive through the courts with money already paid out for flights and hotels.

BSPA have cocked up here but are under huge pressure no doubt from Sky to run the meeting on the day sky want.

Im pretty sure you cant run an individual on the same date as a shared event so Havvy will have to change if thats the case.

Like the Poole fans saying Darcy will ride at Havvy's!!! If he doesnt ride at the ERC he will more than likely get a 28 day ban so why would you not want him to ride?/

Unfortunatly Darcy has a prior booking on that day and so will be unavailable for the hastily rearranged Elite Riders Championship.

At least I hope that's how the press release will read!

The BSPA have their own rules and who booked what first doesnt come into it. You cant run an event on the same day as a shared event unless they bend the rules in this case.

Im not advocating what the bspa have done because its wrong and Havvy should get his day but to be so blinkered just to say ' the riders will ride for Havvy' shows lack of insight into what may happen. Riders can ride at Havvys but they risk a ban

Absolutely. If he has signed up for Havvy then the BSPA don't have a legal leg to stand on by moving their event at such short notice.

Did Havvy ever think of the fans when he tried to get meetings called off every time a drop of rain fell on an away track(us Newcastle fans have long memories)

Are you sure about that?

I would have thought the ERC would be an official fixture, Havvy's meeting is for all intents and purpose a 'friendly'.

Havelock has never really been my cup of tea but he's been crapped on from a great height here, poor show from the BSPA & Sky.

Hopefully a solution can be found as we want the best riders at both events and no doubt the GP boys will want to ride in both to get ready for NZ.

Not sure either when he is still in speedway and managing the bees
