Tsunami 10,219 Posted January 24, 2014 And what do you base that on? I'd say that our track and facilities are Elite League standard and we belong more in that division than many of those who are in there. And are you offering to underwrite the losses, after a multi Millionaire could not sustain those losses with the EL. Change your name to Trump instead of Crump.
stevebrum 6,831 Posted January 24, 2014 In reality Crump 99, the crowd levels over the last few years are not good enough to sustain Elite League Speedway. It is a sad part of the sport and certainly for Peterborough. The Panthers as a circuit belongs in the EL. Without a sugar daddy to bank roll the club again it might be a while before it happens again.

I am well aware of the losses situation and the new factors, and what may or may not of happened at the AGM. What we really need to know is if Trump99 is going to fund the losses for EL racing.

Chris Brown 542 Posted January 24, 2014 I always laugh when i see the words Ales Dryml and GP rider in the same sentence. All he can do is qualify and he of course has done this once and as 1st reserve for last season There are many so called better riders who have not achieved that................actually his qualification record is probably better than Harris, Nicholls and of course he went further in the qualification process for the 2013 series than the 2013 World Champion While I understand some of the views, I am pleased to see him back at a track where he will score a lot of points. They have mucked him about royally in the past few seasons

Crump99 4,481 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) In reality Crump 99, the crowd levels over the last few years are not good enough to sustain Elite League Speedway. On face value that's true but generally the product has not been good enough. Poor teams, fragmented fixture list and away disaster after disaster. People are not going to turn up for that. After 5 years Frost eventually got it right by bringing in Sullivan, producing a smooth consistent racing surface and signing a winning team of racers, Crowds started to pick up, it's not rocket science. We don't belong in the Prem for that reason IMO. It was only about getting the right people in post wasn't it? Anyway, we are where we are so I'll go with it even if I'm not happy, which isn't unusual to be fair I am well aware of the losses situation and the new factors, and what may or may not of happened at the AGM. What we really need to know is if Trump99 is going to fund the losses for EL racing. I would fight fire with fire but my insult will get deleted - Did Horton make a loss in 2006? Time to move on & enjoy our speedway at the EOES. Good luck to the riders & management for the new season. Fair point Edited January 24, 2014 by Crump99

Haza 1,777 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Main problem has been the club living beyond its means yes Readypower bank rolled the club but if the club hadn't spent silly money on riders and cut its cloth accordingly maybe the club would still be in the EL . proud panther 1,507 Posted January 25, 2014 Even towards the end of last season, the crowds were not sufficient to cover the costs of Elite League racing. Be interesting to know what crowd would have been required to break even last season.

25yearfan 476 Posted January 25, 2014 Peterborough speedway has been bankrolled for a number of years now! I'm convinced the problems there started when the traditional Friday night racenight was changed! The two tracks I spectate at the most Ipswich and Mildenhall both have long standing traditional racenights and are both well supported compared to most other tracks in this day and age. If both moved to another racenight or had the infrequency of irregular racenights like Peterborough have had then both would see reduced crowd levels and in Ipswich case, it has nearly always had bigger crowds than Peterborough! Regular Friday night speedway at the EofES and Peterborough speedway would hold its own, maybe even without a rich benefactor propping it up!
