jenga 2,998 Posted January 28, 2014 that harris bloke could certainly draw the crowds , in todays modern era. . . . . . rolf and not chris.......loved his swagger on the ply board and didgerdoo..
castrolargh 264 Posted January 28, 2014 Hans Nielsen had some great races with bo Petersen and crumpy at the abbey, loved to boo him. Per Jonsson prob one of my favourite "away team" stars, awesome.
Terry 1,319 Posted January 28, 2014 Andy Galvin used to defy gravity around Waterden road. I'll never forget the 5-1 he and Alan Mogridge (the legend) scored over Erik Gundersen in possibly the slowest race ever!
george.m 3,063 Posted January 28, 2014 I only saw Rickardsson a few times but he was in a class of his own. Out with all the other obvious World Class riders I liked Per Jonsson. A rider I paid to see many times was Shane Parker. Many Sunday afternoon trips along the M8 were to see him at Ashfield. Will we ever see his like again at Glasgow? Even when he's avoiding a falling rider the Messiah is class! http://www.gillmanspeedway.com/news/how-did-shane-parker-do-this/

nw42 2,053 Posted February 1, 2014 shane parker? you must of been deprived up in Glasgow! I thought similar when you mentioned John Louis but each to their own. Don't get me wrong,I know Louis was a good rider but there were a few so-called lesser lights I'd have been more disappointed to have missed seeing, Tony Davey for one since we're on Ipswich, loved his style. I've seen Shane Parker have some fantastic meetings, very rarely fails to give value for money, definitely a crowd-puller. Good thread by the way. Soren SJosten was a rider i really enjoyed watching,so exciting to watch great balance i only see him once at the great Hyde Rd which was a shame.See him q uite a few times in international and individual events and at the Abbey and at his peak was one of the few riders that could beat a peak Mauger and Collins at Hyde Rd. Good call Sidney, Soren was my favourite rider when I first went to Hyde Rd, he looked so small on the bike that until I saw him in the pits I thought he was just a kid a bit older than me, I was about 8 at the time. Great rider and good Belle Vue man.
scarletrider 66 Posted February 1, 2014 Jack Millen.Spot on Ian, by far the greatest crowd puller of his time and place. Teesside's Ron Wilson would book him at every opportunity for extra crowd he pulled in, he was said to put hundreds on the gate. "The Mackem"

pandorum 1,259 Posted February 1, 2014 Mad Jack Millen just to see who would have the guts to punch him Emil Sayfutdinov certainly added to the crowd during his short stay with Coventry. Nowadays very few if any. Darcy maybe but thats all I can think of in todays PL+ league.

Ommer Mon 381 Posted February 1, 2014 How about Christer Lofqvist? Spectacular rider who never knew when he was beaten. Legend has it he used to leave tyre marks on the fence at West Ham. One of my favourite riders and very sad that his career was cut short so tragically.
