Birmingham V Swindon Mon 2nd June

Recommended Posts

It's amazing, reading some of the posts on here and also on the Speedway Facebook groups. You can't help but wonder if some sort of collective insanity has got into the heads of many speedway supporters around the country. So much venom and abuse over a few rain offs, as if there is some sort of conspiracy being run throughout the speedway establishment. It's crazy.

I'm sure there was a time when people in speedway used to take notice of this forum, and sometimes opinions and posts on here would have an effect. Not any more though, I suspect. Because there's so much nonsense on here. The world's gone stupid.

And as for the stick and abuse aimed at Rosco, let's look at the rain-offs this year.

At Coventry, the match should have been called off at heat 9, but they forced through to heat 10 to a result. this is because of the rule that they seem obsessed with on Sky. get to heat 10. get a result. Rosco wasn't happy. Conclusion - Rosco doesn't agree with forcing matches to heat 10 and then calling them off just to get a result.

Swindon v Birmingham - the weather became progressively worse throughout the evening. Meeting was abandoned. Rosco said over he PA that it could have possibly been forced through to heat 10 to get a result, but that wouldn't be fair. Conclusion - Rosco doesn't agree with forcing matches to heat 10 and then calling them off just to get a result.

At home to Belle Vue. Sky kept on about calling the match at heat 10. Belle Vue's top 2 were clearly unhappy with conditions, as were many Swindon riders. They made a call at heat 10 to give it longer before calling it off. Conclusion - Rosco doesn't agree with forcing matches to heat 10 and then calling them off just to get a result.

Last night at Birmingham. Rosco says on TV that he doesn't agree with forcing matches to heat 10 and then calling them off to get a result. Conclusion - Rosco doesn't agree with forcing matches to heat 10 and then calling them off just to get a result.

It's the same stance he's taken every time, and it's a sensible one.

Good post Grachan...

Rosco won the 1983 NL KOC, therefore he is always right

Not such a good post Falcon Hammer...

Around half a dozen times at Lakeside - maybe a couple of times as a guest.

He's never (to the best of my memory) scored well; looks very uncomfortable on his bike and hasn't ever impressed.

Apologies if I've upset people with my point of view. But that is the purpose of a forum - isn't it?

I went through Nick's meetings this year completed up until the tenth race. Here goes (5 home meetings )11+2,from(5). 6+3(4). 8+2(4). 8+1(4). 3(2) 36 Points 8 BP from 19. Rides. ( 7 away meetings.). 8+1(4). 4(4). 7+2(4). /6+2(4). And 9(5)both LAKESIDE./. 1+1(4) 6+1(5) 41 points. 7 BP from 30. Rides. Is it that bad Voice? like i said it is your opinion no worries on my part maybe SCB could give us an average he is the man for that.

Some of the junk people come out with...Morra is one of the most fearless riders in British speedway. He has obviously never seen him ride at The Shabbey, especially the time he smoked Holder the then world champ, one of the best passing moves I've seen in 51 years of watching this once great sport.

I know who will be the most successful rider and it's not Bonkers Barker.

How on earth are these people in charge of running meetings if they can't use any sort of common sense and logic?....let alone just being able using their eyes properly. Yet another decision where inconsistencies make this sport a complete joke.

Looks a bit bumpy the track compared to the usual high standards at Birmingham, hope it sorts itself out.

If you had been at Rye House for the meeting against Plymouth a couple of weeks you would have witnessed three more by Mr Robinson.

Calling a result after 10 heats is way too early IMO, it should be at least 12 or 13....

Results ought not to stand until it is decided. If it is still possible for the losing team to get something out of the match then it ought not to stand. The chance of getting a losing point though does to a certain extent make this a problem so perhaps if the losing team has no chance of actually winning maybe there is an argument for it to stand anyway.

Funny how most members moan :D I have heard I don't like Pearson, I don't like Tatum and I don't like the Eurosport commentators so who do fellow members like? :D It is easy to make mistakes on Commentary you know and you can get caught up in the moment.

Mistakes are not a problem, everybody does it, it is the constant using of the word super that irritates me.

Just to balance things up, I've always enjoyed watching Ben Barker ride - even way back in his days at Brandon. Nick, on the other hand, is one of those guys who I'm amazed continues to hold down an Elite League position - I truly think he's out of his depth.

That would be the nick morris averaging two points per meeting higher thsn ben barker in the el this season?

He (Nick Morris) goes well at Leicester..... He's comfortable in the Premier League, but I think he is guilty as many double -uppers in the Elite League, he over rides and gets into all sorts of pickles! Will be better when he matures on track a little....

Over Rides, thats an under statement  , he's completely out of control on that bike, how he never took anyone off with him is a miracle, should stick to PL

Tbh what Barker said about Morris on SKY was laughable 'That kid needs to learn some control' considering Barker has took King off his bike twice this season that is a bit rich don't you think?

Agreed, Barker with all his doubling up now rides like a Premier League rider. He's lost that "smoothness" that goes with Elite League, he's constantly over correcting himself.

Exactly, but Barker is renowned for speaking before putting his one brain cell into gear.

Watched the TV prog last night and decided to put a stop watch on it, with all the interviews, pre meeting rubbish, adverts and all the other rubbish you get from Sky it was 35 minutes of lost action, about 4 or 5 heats.
