Glasgow V Rye House Ko Cup 2nd Leg Sun June 16th At 5pm

Recommended Posts

So we try again to get the tie of the first round , between the league's two whipping boys , out of the way and let the victors get a doing off Newcastle in the quarter finals .

Both teams are depleted , due to hugely important meetings on the continent , and join in the guest fest that has become the norm in the PL .

Both French riders due to be at Ashfield this Sunday will be in their homeland instead . Dimitri still injured , and worryingly the red alert e-mail says for several more weeks , and Tressarieu away for the Normandy snail racing best pairs or something more important .

While we are also missing Kasper Lykke , who is also away doing something far more interesting than a Sunday evening in Possilpark .

So unless any other reason for missing the meeting crops up , Sunday's teams might be -

Glasgow and guests

1 Kevin Wolbert

2 Christian Henry

3 Anders Thomsen

4 Theo Pijper

5 Rusty Harrison

6 Tom Perry (guest)

7 Andre Compton ( guest)

Rye House and guest

1 Eddie Kennett

2 Ben Hopwood (guest)

3 Luke Bowen

4 Steve Boxall

5 Jason Garrity

6 Jason Bunyan

7 Stefan Nielsen

Hopefully we'll have kept tonight's first leg tight enough to give us a chance of progressing , and note the later start time for tomorrow's meeting

Berge not due back until 24 July, couple of weeks to get back into it and up to speed and September will be approaching. Why we didn't or haven't signed a replacement is mystifying.

Looking forward to Rye this weekend and for the first time in ages its forecast to be dry. Could Wolbert possibly win ht1 to get us on our way!

Don't see Wolbert winning heat 1 but I can see a comfortable win for the Tiggers and certainly enough to get through the tie.

If Rusty is indeed back on it as he seemed last weekend then the addition of Henry makes them a pretty well balanced team.

It does feel like that . That's probably all the rain offs to blame for that . No rain forecast for tomorrow , but that goes for nowt

This has all the makings of a cracker . Rye have the sort of lead which is defendable but they are by no means out of sight . But no passengers today , we need everyone firing .

I have to say though , Anders Thomsen is becoming one of the riders of the season in the PL . We wondered how he'd cope moving into the main body of the team , but he's been absolutely sensational . We've unearthed a real star of the future .

If memory serves I think Berwick went to Stoke a few seasons ago with a six man team, with only one of their riders Jak Rempala, the rest was guests and R/R. This was the meeting.

Stoke = 60

1. Lee Complin - 3, 3, 2*, 3, 3, 2* = 16+2 (Paid Maximum)

2. Ben Barker - 2*, 3, 3, 0, 2 = 10+1

3. Glenn Cunningham - 3, 2*, 3, 0 = 8+1

4. R/R - BE, LC, CV, BB.

5. Claus Vissing - 3, 3, FX, 3, 2*, 3 = 14+1

6. Barrie Evans - FX, 1, 1, 1 = 3

7. Jamie Smith - 3, EF, 2*, 3, 1* = 9+2

Berwick = 31

1. Trent Leverington - 1, 1, 0, 2, 1, 1 = 6

2. Arlo Bugeja - 0, 2, 0, F, 0 = 2

3. R/R - AB, TL, JR, CK.

4. Chris Kerr - 0, 2, 2, 1*, 3 = 8+1

5. Jacek Rempala - 1*, F, 2, 2^, 0, 0 = 5+1

6. Scott James - 2, 1, 1*, 2 = 6+1

7. Jon Bethell - 1*, 2, 1, 0 = 4+1

As Lioness has said , we went to the dump in the Scottish Cup one year ( on Halloween as well ) with only Lee Dicken as an actual Glasgow rider .

But your example must have been a league meeting , which makes it an even more impressive attempt . For sure , the all-guest side is definitely achievable .

Glasgow don't win many by over 10 points so could be a cliff hanger :)

Hahaha , no we don't
