2015 Speedway Gp Challange

Recommended Posts

A question with the most sincere thought behind it, absolutely NO bad feelings behind it, but when has an Italian rider won a meeting of this caliber in the past? Armando himself, way back?

Certainly no Argentinean rider has ever before won a speedway meeting of such caliber. Covatti is born and raised in Argentina, speaks Spanish as his first language, an only has some Italian forefathers, which gives him dual nationality. I know he rides in the Italian SWC team, and holds an international FMI license, but actually he is more Argentinean than Italian, which makes his victory last night even more remarkable.

Even more remarkable considering that he, Covatti, was knocked out in the qualifying round at Abensberg where he finished 12th on 5pts.

Not quite sure how a rider can fail to qualify in a previous round and then be given a wildcard for a later qualification event and be allowed to qualify from that.

Think this situation must have happened numerous times.Fritz Wallner in the world U21 final for instance was one I recall

Local wild card. Approved by CCP.

Thanks. About same with our last similar victory, when Kylmä win in Abensberg a few years back...

FROM what I have heard so far the track in Riga was excellent...

Track was good, whole Evening went very well. 21 heats all over in around 2 hours. But with 3 experienced British refs ( 2 as unpaid volunteers ) running things from the pits, what could go wrong?

Track rode fine, although surface material looked very Terenzano-esque. Racing line very much around the kerb, with most of the entertainment from Leon Madsen on his rocket ship.

Won't be making a trip for the SGP though.

But Jim L wasn't one of them.

I had almost already written that the meeting was practically organised by Finnish people with clerk of the course experience of around half a dozen or more SGP's, years of speedway refereeing and a couple of LT GP's... But that would not have been taken seriously, at all...
