waiheke1 4,295 Posted January 26, 2015 I think those would all be detailed in the peter oakes history of the bl ( at least up to 90). If you're still awaiting a response next week I'll try to find time to dig them out
The White Knight 9,039 Posted January 26, 2015 Cheekyboys2 - you forgot the: Northern Star Championship (Sunderland)
NOBODY 538 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) I have the results of other top events but strangely not the ones listed above. the Northern Star Championship from Sunderland.....? That was a rare one. Can't think what Newcastle, Workington, Oxford & Scunthorpe have staged! I don't have any books on speedway any longer only Speedway Stars from 1964 and it would take years to trawl through that lot to get the info I need. There were so many local individuals from the past especially the 70's. Almost every club held its own. Perhaps there are others anyone can think of? The following I have..... Blue Riband, Northern, Midland, Southern, London & Scottish Riders Champs, Peter Craven & other Memorials, all FIM & BSPA shared events. Bruiser McHuge 589 Posted January 28, 2015 They were really prestigious these open meetings and really competitive.........it was the Daily Express Spring Classic in 1978 that got me into going to speedway with my family when I was young.....I watched that on World of Sport and Scott Autrey won......I mithered my parents to go to Belle Vue as a lad I knew at school went there and so we went early 1978.....seeing it live was much better than the Spring Classic on TV ! My fave was the Golden Hammer...that was like a world final...and Cradley was probably my favourite track...and I remember the Golden Hammer actually getting back page news in the Daily Mirror.....those were the days ! daveallan81 330 Posted January 29, 2015 Using the excel results sheets I have, I extracted every post-war meeting that was tagged as an individual and stuck them in a big list. Nearly 5000 entries! A bit of tidying up later and I've come up with this https://www.dropbox.com/s/7qt6cbr69az38lq/SundryIndWinners.pdf?dl=0 I didn't do much with the entries but copy and paste, there are a couple of results missing as well, but it should give you somewhere to start. The Fen Trophy was a team affair as far as I can see. A couple of other meetings mentioned were only staged a couple of times, the Itex 100 for one.
