Starman2006 2,356 Posted May 7, 2015 Gomolski may not be riding yet?! A bit battered and in pain after last night! Must admit, he was in quite a lot of discomfort after the meeting..
E I Addio 15,847 Posted May 7, 2015 Gomolski may not be riding yet?! A bit battered and in pain after last night! Hmmm, no doubt Joe Screens doctor will certify him unfit and a track specialist guest will come in. with only eight home meetings remaining after tomorrow nights match, lakeside's season is nearly over regardless of the result! How can it be nearly over ? We haven't had the mid-season collapse yet.
Bagpuss 10,796 Posted May 7, 2015 I'm sure there is an Arena - loving ringer already lined up.

He was in a lot of discomfort last night, is that quite clear enough for you. If he's not fit to ride he doesn't ride, is that simple enough for you to understand ? The Voice Of Reason 2,124 Posted May 7, 2015 It wasn't a question of foresight. Lakeside were never in a position to have the option of choosing Backbird, due to the way the order in which the picks were taken. Can't agree. To the best of my knowledge, pecking order in the first round was Belle Vue, Coventry, Kings Lynn, LAKESIDE, Leicester, Poole, Swindon, WOLVES.
SCB 0 Posted May 7, 2015 Can't agree. To the best of my knowledge, pecking order in the first round was Belle Vue, Coventry, Kings Lynn, LAKESIDE, Leicester, Poole, Swindon, WOLVES. Lakeside got 3rd pick after Leicester and Wolves. Wolves had already picked Blackbird by the time it got to Lakeside.
The Voice Of Reason 2,124 Posted May 7, 2015 Fair enough SCB - thanks for the clarification. Yep, concede on that one EI Addio - suffice to say that I still think Jon and Neil need their heads tested for initially picking Ashley Birks. Moreover, there were no doubt one or two verbal 'gentleman's agreements' before the selection process - and I didn't read anywhere our management's desire to select Blackbird. When all is said and done, the scenario around our Number 7 race jacket (over the past month) has been nothing other than farcical.
g13webb 4,254 Posted May 8, 2015 The whole scenario of the selection process was laughable. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, everyone, except Poole that is... How the leagues top FTR , Kyle Newman was only ranked 6th , was beyond everyone imagination..

In reality it makes no difference, Newman was always going to ride for Poole irrespective of his ranking, the only difference it made was that we could pick Starke who hasn't exactly done well and it has been proved several 2nd tier riders are better than he is. Starke was rightly ranked top in 2nd tier, however you are correct regards Newman - he was only ever going to be protected by Poole. Don't agree with the rankings tho as Newman has already proved he is a higher ranked rider on EL experience alone.
Falcon Hammer 576 Posted May 8, 2015 Got to admit I wouldn't change any of our riders except 1st fast track; although when Steve Boxall's back, we should improve. Just need Mikkel to get on top of his bike problems, sad to see him struggling I can understand why the Swindon fans were moaning last season about FTR; massive disadvantage & nothing you can do about it
Bryn 413 Posted May 8, 2015 RACEDAY WEATHER CHECK - 12.20pm First raceday weather check and here, very near the Dartford crossing, it's been dry and bright all morning with NO hint of rain. The various forecasts predict there'll be no problems as far as today's weather is concerned but should there be any change, then I'll update immediately. Next scheduled update circa 3.30pm from the track.

I had no issue with Poole safeguarding Newman. That was expected, same as us with Lewis Kerr. The false ranking of Newman, Not only allowed Poole to retain your 1st choice, (Newman), but also gave you second pick of the second tier rider. Whether you choose right or wrong is irrelevant . At least you had a choice .
